Distributions of topological observables in inclusive three- and four-jet events in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2015-07-01)
This paper presents distributions of topological observables in inclusive three- and four-jet events produced in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with a data sample collected by the CMS experiment corresponding to a luminosity of 5.1 fb(-1). The distributions are corrected for detector effects, and compared with several event generators based on two- and multi-parton matrix elements at leading order. Among the considered calculations, MadGraph interfaced with PYTHIA6 displays the overall be...

Estimation in bivariate nonnormal distributions with stochastic variance functions
Tiku, Moti L.; İslam, Muhammed Qamarul; SAZAK, HAKAN SAVAŞ (Elsevier BV, 2008-01-01)
Data sets in numerous areas of application can be modelled by symmetric bivariate nonnormal distributions. Estimation of parameters in such situations is considered when the mean and variance of one variable is a linear and a positive function of the other variable. This is typically true of bivariate t distribution. The resulting estimators are found to be remarkably efficient. Hypothesis testing procedures are developed and shown to be robust and powerful. Real life examples are given.
Chaos in the SU (2) Yang-Mills Chern-Simons matrix model
Başkan, Kağan; Kürkcüoğlu, Seçkin (2021-09-15)
We study the effects of addition of the Chern-Simons (CS) term in the minimal Yang-Mills (YM) matrix model composed of two 2×2 matrices with SU(2) gauge and SO(2) global symmetry. We obtain the Hamiltonian of this system in appropriate coordinates and demonstrate that its dynamics is sensitive to the values of both the CS coupling, κ, and the conserved conjugate momentum, pφ, associated to the SO(2) symmetry. We examine the behavior of the emerging chaotic dynamics by computing the Lyapunov exponents and pl...
SMOOTHINGS OF SINGULARITIES AND SYMPLECTIC TOPOLOGY
Bhupal, Mohan Lal (2013-01-01)
We review the symplectic methods which have been applied in the classification of weighted homogeneous singularities with rational homology disk (QHD) smoothings. We also review the construction of such smoothings and show that in many cases these smoothings are unique up to symplectic deformation. In addition, we describe a method for finding differential topological descriptions (more precisely, Kirby diagrams) of the smoothings and illustrate this method by working out a family of examples.
