Homogeneous monomial groups and centralizers
Kuzucuoğlu, Mahmut; Sushchanskyy, Vitaly I. (2018-01-01)
The construction of homogeneous monomial groups are given and their basic properties are studied. The structure of a centralizer of an element is completely described and the problem of conjugacy of two elements is resolved. Moreover, the classification of homogeneous monomial groups are determined by using the lattice of Steinitz numbers, namely, we prove the following: Let and be two Steinitz numbers. The homogeneous monomial groups sigma(H) and sigma(G) are isomorphic if and only if = and HG provided tha...
Strictly singular operators and isomorphisms of Cartesian products of power series spaces
Djakov, PB; Onal, S; Terzioglu, T; Yurdakul, Murat Hayrettin (1998-01-02)
V. P. Zahariuta, in 1973, used the theory of Fredholm operators to develop a method to classify Cartesian products of locally convex spaces. In this work we modify his method to study the isomorphic classification of Cartesian products of the kind E-0(p)(a) x E-infinity(q) (b) where 1 less than or equal to p, q < infinity, p not equal q, a = (a(n))(n=1)(infinity) and b = (b(n))(n=1)(infinity) are sequences of positive numbers and E-0(p)(a), E(infinity)q(b) are respectively l(p)-finite and l(q)-infinite type...
Invariant subspaces of collectively compact sets of linear operators
Alpay, Safak; Misirlioglu, Tunc (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2008-01-01)
In this paper, we first give some invariant subspace results for collectively compact sets of operators in connection with the joint spectral radius of these sets. We then prove that any collectively compact set M in alg Gamma satisfies Berger-Wang formula, where Gamma is a complete chain of subspaces of X.
WEIGHTED HOMOGENEOUS SINGULARITIES AND RATIONAL HOMOLOGY DISK SMOOTHINGS
Bhupal, Mohan Lal (2011-10-01)
We classify the resolution graphs of weighted homogeneous surface singularities which admit rational homology disk smoothings. The nonexistence of rational homology disk smoothings is shown by symplectic geometric methods, while the existence is verified via smoothings of negative weight.
Exotic smooth structures on non-simply connected 4-manifolds
Topkara, Mustafa; Ozan, Yıldıray; Department of Mathematics (2010)
In this thesis, we study exotic smooth structures on 4-manifolds with finite fundamental groups. For an arbitrary finite group G, we construct an infinite family of smooth 4-manifolds with fundamental group G, which are all homeomorphic but mutually non-diffeomorphic, using the small symplectic manifold with arbitrary fundamental group constructed by S. Baldridge and P. Kirk, together with the methods of A. Akhmedov, R.Ý. Baykur and D. Park for constructing infinite families of exotic simply connected 4-man...
