On the arithmetic exceptionality of polynomial mappings
Küçüksakallı, Ömer (2018-02-01)
In this note we prove that certain polynomial mappings P-g(k) (x) is an element of Z[x] in n-variables obtained from simple complex Lie algebras g of arbitrary rank n1, are exceptional.

On the Eigenstructure of DFT Matrices
Candan, Çağatay (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2011-03-01)
The discrete Fourier transform (DFT) not only enables fast implementation of the discrete convolution operation, which is critical for the efficient processing of analog signals through digital means, but it also represents a rich and beautiful analytical structure that is interesting on its own. A typical senior-level digital signal processing (DSP) course involves a fairly detailed treatment of DFT and a list of related topics, such as circular shift, correlation, convolution operations, and the connectio...
On the correlation of the supremum and the infimum and of maximum gain and maximum loss of Brownian motion with drift
Vardar Acar, Ceren; Szekely, Gabor J. (Elsevier BV, 2013-08-15)
Investors are naturally interested in the supremum and the infimum of stock prices, also in the maximum gain and the maximum loss over a time period. To shed light on these relatively complicated aspects of sample paths, we consider Brownian motion with and without drift. We provide explicit calculations of the correlation between the supremum and the infimum of Brownian motion with drift. We establish a number of results concerning the distributions of maximum gain and maximum loss. We present simulation s...
