ELECTRON POLARIZATION IN A PARABOLIC QUANTUM-WELL WITH UNIFORM ELECTRIC-FIELD
ILAIWI, KF; Tomak, Mehmet (1991-01-01)
The polarization of a quantum electron confined in a parabolic quantum well in the presence of a uniform electric field is calculated numerically. We find positive polarization for both ground and the first excited states.
Thickness-dependent nonlinear absorption behaviors in polycrystalline ZnSe thin films
Karatay, Ahmet; Yaglioglu, H. Gul; Elmali, Ayhan; Parlak, Mehmet; KARAAĞAÇ, Hakan (2012-03-15)
Polycrystalline ZnSe thin films have been deposited with different thicknesses by using sputtering evaporation method. Their nonlinear absorption behaviors were investigated by open aperture Z-scan and pump-probe techniques. Linear absorption measurements show redshift in energy as the film thickness increases. This can be attributed to Urbach tail effect. All films exhibit nonlinear absorption for 65 ps pulse duration at lower input intensities while they exhibit saturable absorption at higher input intens...
Terahertz (THz) spectroscopy of Freon-11 (CCl3F, CFC-11) at room temperature
Altan, Hakan; Alfano, S. A.; Alfano, R. R. (2006-08-31)
The rotational spectrum for the lowest vibrational mode for CCl3F has been measured in the 0.1-2 THz frequency range using a compact time-resolved terahertz spectrometer. The peak of the population spectrum for the ground state rotational manifold was observed at 0.3 THz. The observed absorption profile was modeled with rotational and vapor pressure parameters. The limits of detectivity of the compact THz system are discussed in context of atmospheric sensing.
Spectrofluorimetric determination of organic and inorganic selenium in vitamin supplements after cloud point extraction
Maden, Mervegül; Volkan, Mürvet; Department of Chemistry (2010)
Selenium is a trace and essential element for good health but required only in very narrow range. Hence, determination of selenium in trace level in any matrix related with human health is important. A preconcentration method is performed to obtain a low detection limit for analyte. In this study, the methodology of cloud point extraction (CPE) was used as the preconcentration method for speciation of selenium in vitamin tablets. Non-ionic surfactant Triton X-114 and a fluorimetric ligand, 2,3- diaminonapht...
Magnetic moments of heavy J(P)=1/2(+) baryons in light cone QCD sum rules
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Savcı, Mustafa (2015-06-22)
The magnetic moments of heavy sextet J(P) = 1/2(+) baryons are calculated in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules method. Linearly independent relations among the magnetic moments of these baryons are obtained. The results for the magnetic moments of heavy baryons obtained in this work are compared with the predictions of the other approaches.
