Performance evaluation of waste rock dump cover systems in different climate zones of Turkey
Baysal, Barış Can; Yılmaz, Koray Kamil; Department of Geological Engineering (2022-11-24)
One of the tasks to be considered during the closure stage of mining is the closure of the waste rock dump (WRD). A suitable top cover system shall be applied for closure to mitigate the impacts of mine wastes on the environment and human health. The regulatory requirements for closure activities vary from one country to another. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performances of cover system types, including the one that is described in Turkish Mining Waste Regulation (TMWR), for different climat...
Optimum cover design for waste rock storage areas
Argunhan, Çidem; Yazıcıgil, Hasan; Department of Geological Engineering (2014)
Developments in mining sector in Turkey necessitate examination of mine effects to the environment in a more extensive way. In this context, cover designs became important for waste rock storage and heap leach areas. Especially, cover design is applied in most of the waste rock areas in order to prevent exposure of minerals in waste rock storage area which may result in unwanted consequences such as acid rock drainage. In this study, North Waste Rock Storage Area in Kışladağ Gold Mine located in Uşak in Wes...
Dark current optimization designs for mesa and planar type processed short wavelength infrared photodetectors
Dolaş, Muhammet Halit; Bek, Alpan; Arslan, Yetkin; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2021-3-05)
This thesis aims to report novel designs to achieve lower dark current values for modified pin heterojunction InGaAs/InP SWIR photodiodes for both mesa and planar type production methodologies.Mesa type studies covernovel passivation methodology based on a fully depleted thin p-InP layer. Mesastructured detectors are targeted due to their competitive advantages for applications such as multicolor/hyperspectral imaging. Test detector pixels with different p...
Osmanlı Evleri Üzerine Yeniden Düşünmek: 18. Yüzyıldan Dahiliyeli-Hariciyeli Beş İstanbul Evi Örneği
Özkaya, Hatice Gökçen (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2018-6-19)
A critical reading of the Ottoman-Turkish hamam as a queered space
Pasin, Burkay; Turan Özkaya, Belgin; Department of Architecture (2014)
This dissertation analyzes the Ottoman-Turkish hamam as a queered space. I follow a combined research methodology in which oral history is the primary method of gathering knowledge, while literature review, questionnaire survey and case analyses are supplementary. In Chapter 3, I argue that in architectural history writing, the hamam is constructed as a desexualized archetype, while in art history, popular literature and media it is reduced to a sexual stereotype. In Chapter 4, I analyze how the hamam works...
