The Impacts of climate change and land use on the ecosystem structure and services of Lake Beyşehir
Bucak, Tuba; Beklioğlu, Meryem; Trolle, Dennis; Department of Biology (2017)
In this thesis, the main aim was to predict the impacts of climatic and land use changes on the ecosystem structure of Lake Beyşehir with the perspective of ecosystem services. Modeling results revealed the sensitivity of ecological and hydrological dynamics of Lake Beyşehir to climatic changes. Climate change scenarios led to reductions in total inflow rates and water levels, and the results showed that significant reductions in water abstraction are needed to maintain the lake in the future. The outcomes ...
The Contribution of Food Safety Management Systems to the Prevention of Deliberate Food Contamination
Smith, Madeleine (2008-09-20)
Food Safety Management systems such as HACCP can help to prevent deliberate contamination of food. These systems are widely used already by the food industry to prevent accidental contamination. This makes them an attractive and cost effective way to address the issue of deliberate contamination.
The role of user models in product design for assessment of user needs
Hasdoğan, Gülay Fatma (1996-01-01)
This paper elucidates the role of user models in the household product design process for the assessment of user needs. Based on field work which investigated the characteristics and qualities of user models employed by design practitioners working in England and Wales in 1991, it presents the benefits and limitations of a range of user models which are most relevant for design practitioners.
The Impact of the Erasmus Program and the Institutional Administration of Internationalization in Türkiye
Bulut Şahin, Betül; UYAR, PERİM; TURHAN, BUGAY (2022-12-01)
International student and staff mobility, which is widely experienced worldwide, constitutes one of the most critical dimensions of the internationalization of higher education. The Erasmus program, initiated by the European Union, plays a significant role in increasing mobility, especially between European countries. Turkey is one of these countries that benefit significantly from the Erasmus program, and the Program became a driving force for Turkish universities to accelerate internationalization. In thi...
The contribution of user-centered design to consumer packages
Kesercioğlu, Burçin; Erbuğ, Çiğdem; Department of Industrial Design (2005)
End-users often complain about usability and safety problems in consumer packages. This study shows that these issues are an obstacle to the achievement of user satisfaction and to gain a competitive advantage in the market. To this end, a case study on food and beverage packages was done in order to identify and analyze these usability and safety problems based on the lifetime phases of packages in which end-users are involved. The study revealed that safety, clarity, legibility, visibility, storability, o...
