Physical space matters: developing social capital for innovation in technopark buildings
Horata, Ahmet Melih; Wasti Pamuksuz, Syeda Nazlı; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2019)
While technoparks are physical spaces where entrepreneurial firms are colocated so that synergies will be borne across them, research about the effects of physical spaces on developing synergies has been scarce. Through semi-structured interview data from employees of firms located in a major Turkish technopark (Technopark M), a grounded theory approach is used to explore the impacts of the physical aspects of technopark spaces on interfirm social capital and its impacts on collaboration. An integrated fram...

Physical Realization and Reflection Phase Characteristics of a Flexible High Impedance Surface
Durgun, Ahmet Cemal; Birtcher, Craig R. (2011-01-01)
This paper presents the fabrication and reflection phase measurements of a flexible high impedance surface (FHIS). The surface is fabricated by using DuPont pyralux polyimide as the substrate. Cyanoacrylate is used to adhere the samples of polyimide. The reflection phase response of the FHIS, which is curved in the form of a cylinder, is measured in the anechoic chamber and compared with that of the flat FHIS. As expected, reflection phase characteristics of the curved FHIS are polarization dependent and sl...
Physical and virtual : transformation of the architectural model
Arpak, Aslı; Mennan, Zeynep; Department of Architecture (2008)
Today the most prosperous interface of architectural design and representation has become the architectural model both in its digital and physical forms. There has been a shift in the design medium from the physical modeling processes to computer-aided design, by way of which the computational design methods have established a much more dynamic, complex, and continual design. In this process, the digital design model now accompanies the whole design as a single entity, contrary to conventional analog modeli...
