Imaging-based attitude determination algorithm for small satellites: Design and the preliminary results
Güzel, Mehmet Burak; Söken, Halil Ersin; Tekinalp, Ozan (2020-01-01)
Limitations for small satellite missions encourages researchers and engineers to use on-board equipment for multiple tasks. Thus, both space can be saved and the equipment redundancy can be prevented. For Earth-imaging satellites a prominent equipment that can be used for multiple purposes is the camera. Other than the observation, the taken images can be used as measurements for determining the absolute or relative attitude of the spacecraft. Depending on also the content of the image (e.g. stars, Earth, M...
Outdoor mapping and localization using satellite images
DOĞRUER, CAN ULAŞ; Koku, Ahmet Buğra; Dolen, M. (Cambridge University Press (CUP), 2010-12-01)
Recently, satellite images of most urban settings has become available on the internet. In this study, a novel mapping and global localization approach, which uses these images, is proposed for outdoor mobile robots operating in urban environment. The mapping of large-scale outdoor environments is done by employing the satellite images acquired by remote sensing technology, and then a map-based approach, that is, Monte Carlo localization is used for localization. The novelty of proposed method is that it us...
LONGITUDINAL ELASTIC-WAVE PROPAGATION AND ENERGY FLUX AT A DISCONTINUITY OF 2 DISSIMILAR SEMIINFINITE CIRCULAR RODS
Yıldırım, Raif Orhan (1994-10-01)
Elastic wave propagation through an area discontinuity of two dissimilar, bonded, semi-infinite circular rods is investigated analytically. In particular, the variations of the coefficients of stress reflection and transmission are determined in terms of the nondimensional cross sectional area and mechanical impedance parameters. The coefficients of energy flux reflection and transmission are also included. Then, the case is generalized to include a rigid mass attached at the discontinuity.
Pulse phase resolved x-ray spectroscopy of four accretion powered millisecond pulsars
Çolak, Sıdıka Merve; Baykal, Altan; Department of Physics (2014)
In this thesis, pulse phase resolved X-ray spectroscopy of four accretion powered millisecond pulsars which are IGR J00291+5934 , IGR J17498-2921 , XTE J0929-314 and XTE J1807-294 will be presented. Phase dependent changes during their outbursts will be checked for possible correlations of spectral parameters such as photon index and blackbody temperature with rotation phase using archive of Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) observations. In the analysis of IGR J17498-2921 in 2011 outburst , positive corre...
