Energy Band Diagram And Current Transport Mechanism In p-MgO/n-Ga4Se3S
QASRAWI, ATEF FAYEZ HASAN; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2015-01-01)
A p-n heterojunction made of MgO and Ga4Se3S single crystal has been successfully produced. The current-voltage curve analysis has shown that the current conduction mechanism is mostly governed by the Richardson-Schottky mechanism. The width of the effective interface region of the p-n junction was found to be 3.72x10(-5)cm. The work function and the electron affinity of the Ga4Se3S crystals were also determined as 4.32 and 3.96 eV, respectively. On the other hand, the capacitance-voltage curve analysis, wh...
Energy dissipation by triangular screens
Bozkuş, Zafer; Ger, Ahmet Metin (null; 2006-10-13)
The main drive for the present study is to investigate experimentally the energy dissipation through triangular screens. Recent experimental studies have shown that screens placed in vertical and inclined configurations below small hydraulic structures may dissipate more energy than a hydraulic jump formed in conventional stilling basins. In the present study a series of laboratory experiments were performed in order to determine the effect of triangular screens on the energy dissipation. The location of th...

Energy transfer and 1.54 mu m emission in amorphous silicon nitride films
Yerci, Selçuk; Kucheyev, S. O.; VAN BUUREN, TONY; Basu, S. N.; Dal Negro, L. (2009-07-20)
Er-doped amorphous silicon nitride films with various Si concentrations (Er:SiNx) were fabricated by reactive magnetron cosputtering followed by thermal annealing. The effects of Si concentrations and annealing temperatures were investigated in relation to Er emission and excitation processes. Efficient excitation of Er ions was demonstrated within a broad energy spectrum and attributed to disorder-induced localized transitions in amorphous Er:SiNx. A systematic optimization of the 1.54 mu m emission was pe...
Energy harvesting from piezoelectric stacks via impacting beam
Özpak, Yiğit; Çalışkan, Mehmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2014)
Piezoelectric materials can be used for energy harvesting from ambient vibration due to their high power density and ease of application. Two basic methods, namely, tuning the natural frequency to the operational frequency and increasing the operation bandwidth of the harvester are commonly employed to maximize the energy harvested from piezoelectric materials. Majority of the studies performed in recent years focus mostly on tuning the natural frequency of the harvester. However, small deviations in operat...
