Optimization and field application of a filter pack system for the simultaneous sampling of atmospheric HNO3, NH3 and SO2
Karakas, D; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal (1997-06-01)
Optimization and field application of a filter pack system for the simultaneous collection of atmospheric gas-phase HNO3, NH3 and SO2 have been studied. A Teflon prefilter was used to remove particulate matter. Nylon filter, oxalic-acid-treated Whatman 41 filter and sodium-carbonate-treated Whatman 41 filter were used for the collection of HNO3, NH3 and SO2, respectively. For the collection of gas-phase HNO3, nylon filters had better efficiency and capacity as compared to NaCl-impregnated Whatman 41 filters...
OPTIMIZATION AND SENSITIVITY OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS
ERBATUR, F; ALZAID, R; DAHMAN, NA (Elsevier BV, 1992-12-03)
This paper is concerned with the optimum design of prestressed concrete beams. Both minimum weight and minimum cost optimization formulations are given for simply supported beams having three different sections. Sensitivity of the optimum designs, with respect to various design parameters, are also discussed. The formulation is programmed for interactive use on micro-computers. An example is given and results are discussed.

Optimization Of Cutting Parameters And Machining Distortion Analysis For Aa2050
Ates, Elvan; Evis, Zafer; ÖZTÜRK, FAHRETTİN (2022-1-01)
All rights reserved.High strength and low density requirement is the fundamental issue in aerospace industry. Many new engineering materials have been focused in recent years. After the 2ndWorld War, aluminum alloy (AA) 2050, (AA2050), which have low density, high fatigue resistance and excellent corrosion resistance, have become the focus of attention with their lighter weight, although they show high performance based on strength values as other using aluminum alloys in aerospace structural parts such as ...
Optimization and sensitivity of retaining structures
Saribas, A; Erbatur, F (1996-08-01)
This paper is concerned with optimum design and sensitivity of retaining structures. The optimum design formulation in terms of a constrained nonlinear programming problem, is given for reinforced concrete-cantilever retaining walls. The objective function may be chosen as the cost or weight of the wall. The solution is carried out by a specially prepared computer program (RETOPT). Illustrative problems are solved, and their results are presented and discussed. The formulation allows for a detailed sensitiv...
