Second order rotational effect on nonradial oscillations in l-Scuti stars
Matalgah, Zıyad; Kırbıyık, Halil; Department of Physics (2004)
In this work the effect of rotation on oscillation frequencies have been inves- tigated . Rotation has been treated as a perturbation and detailed calculations were done on the infuence of second order rotation . We used an evolutionary model of DELTA-Scuti star V1162 Ori with a mass of 1:8 solar mass. The eigenfrequencies were calculated in two cases , the slow rotation case with vsini = 46km/s and the fast rotation case with vsini = 61.9km/s. Calculation were carried out by a modifed oscillation program a...
Second order perturbation theory in general relativity: Taub charges as integral constraints
Altas, Emel; Tekin, Bayram (American Physical Society (APS), 2019-05-01)
In a nonlinear theory, such as general relativity, linearized field equations around an exact solution are necessary but not sufficient conditions for linearized solutions. Therefore, the linearized field equations can have some solutions which do not come from the linearization of possible exact solutions. This fact can make the perturbation theory ill defined, which would be a problem both at the classical and semiclassical quantization level. Here we study the first and second order perturbation theory i...
Second order rotational effect on the oscillation frequencies of V1162 Ori
Matalgah, Ziyad; Kirbiyik, H.; Civelek, R.; Kiziloglu, N. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2007-08-01)
V1162 is a delta-Scuti type variable star for which a rotational velocity of V sini=46 +/- 4 km s(-1) has been observed. The star has been modelled according to its observed parameters and oscillation frequencies. The results obtained by approximating rotation to the first order have been compared with the ones provided by new calculations that include rotation up to the second order. We found that second order rotation term should be included in frequency calculations for comparatively high rotation speeds.
SECOND ORDER NUMERICAL METHODS FOR NAVIER-STOKES AND DARCY-BRINKMAN EQUATIONS
DEMİR, Medine; Kaya Merdan, Songül; Bayram Çıbık, Aytekin; Department of Mathematics (2022-6-28)
In this thesis, second-order, efficient and reliable numerical stabilization methods are considered for approximating solutions to the incompressible, viscous fluid flow driven by the Navier-Stokes equations and for the Darcy-Brinkman equations driven by double-diffusive convection. The standard Galerkin finite element method remains insufficient for accurately solving these complex nonlinear equations that creates some problems such as numerical instabilities and unphysical oscillations in the solution. A ...
Second harmonic generation in an asymmetric rectangular quantum well under hydrostatic pressure
Karabulut, Ibrahim; Atav, Ulfet; Safak, Haluk; Tomak, Mehmet (2007-04-30)
The effects of structure parameters and hydrostatic pressure oil the electronic states and the second harmonic generation (SHG) susceptibility of asymmetric rectangular quantum Well (ARQW) are studied. The asymmetry of the potential can be controlled by changing the structural parameters and this adjustable asymmetry is important for optimizing the SHG susceptibility. We have calculated analytically the electronic states in ARQW within the framework of the envelope function approach. Numerical results for A...
