In this study, we present a new, unique fourcross shaped metamaterial terahertz (THz) filter fabricated from both gold thin films and YBa2Cu3O7-d d high T-c superconducting thin films. A commercial electromagnetic simulation software, CST Microwave Studio, is used to design and optimize the metamaterial filter structures. The proposed fourcross shaped rectangular filter structure consists of periodic metallic rings where strip lines are located at the sides of the ring. Fourcross metamaterial filters are fabricated by using e-beam lithography and ion beam etching techniques. Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy measurements validated the design predictions for both the center frequencies and bandwidths of the resonances due to the fourcross structures. The resonance switching of the transmission spectra was investigated by lowering the temperature below the critical transition temperature. This resonance switching effect is not observed in filters made up of metals. This novel fourcross rectangular resonator with a temperature-dependent resonance behavior holds great potential for active, tunable and low loss THz devices for imaging, sensing, and detection applications.

Metal mesh filters based on Ti, ITO and Cu thin films for terahertz waves
Demirhan, Y.; Alaboz, H.; ÖZYÜZER, LÜTFİ; Nebioglu, M. A.; Takan, T.; Altan, Hakan; Sabah, C. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2016-02-01)
In this study, we have investigated the spectral performance of resonant terahertz (THz) bandpass filters which were produced from thin films with a metal-mesh shape. The aforementioned filters were fabricated from titanium, copper and indium tin oxide thin films on fused silica substrates by UV lithography with an array of cross-shaped apertures. Since the mesh period, cross-arm length and its width specify the spectral characteristics of the filters, we were able to reveal the performance of these filters...
Admittance analysis of an MIS structure made with PECVD deposited a-SiNx : H thin films
Atilgan, I; Ozder, S; Ozdemir, O; Katircioglu, B (Elsevier BV, 1999-07-01)
a-SiNx:H thin films, prepared by the PECVD technique, were optically and electrically characterized. The frequency dependent trap admittance derived for the MIS structure in the accumulation gate voltage regime was revised. Based on these results an omitted multiplying factor was included into the derivation. An extension of the tunnelling model in the depletion bias regime was used in comparison with the widely accepted statistical model and finally, the more general feature of the tunnelling-based approac...
Structural, optical and electrical properties of N-doped ZnO thin films prepared by thermal oxidation of pulsed filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposited ZnxNy films
ERDOĞAN, NECDET HAKAN; Kara, K.; Ozdamar, H.; KAVAK, HAMİDE; ESEN, RAMAZAN; Karaagac, H. (Elsevier BV, 2011-09-08)
In this study, N-doped ZnO thin films were fabricated by oxidation of ZnxNy films. The ZnxNy thin films were deposited on glass substrates by pulsed filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition (PFCVAD) using metallic zinc wire (99.999%) as a cathode target in pure nitrogen plasma. The influence of oxidation temperature, on the electrical, structural and optical properties of N-doped ZnO films was investigated. P-type conduction was achieved for the N-doped ZnO obtained at 450 degrees C by oxidation of ZnxNy, wi...
Investigation of band gap energy versus temperature for SnS 2 thin films grown by RF-magnetron sputtering
Isik, M.; Gullu, H. H.; Terlemezoglu, M.; Surucu, O. Bayrakli; Parlak, Mehmet; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2020-08-01)
SnS2 thin films grown by magnetron sputtering technique were characterized by structurally and optically in the present work. Crystalline parameters, atomic compositions, and surface characteristics of SnS2 thin films were presented according to results of applied structural techniques. Optical studies of SnS2 thin films were accomplished by Raman spectroscopy and transmission methods. Raman spectrum exhibited two modes around 198 and 320 cm−1. Transmittance data obtained for various temperatures between 10...
CZTSSe thin films fabricated by single step deposition for superstrate solar cell applications
Terlemezoğlu, Makbule; Dogru, C.; Gullu, H. H.; Çiftpınar, Emine Hande; Parlak, Mehmet (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-06-01)
The focus of this study is the characterization of Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)(4) (CZTSSe) thin films and fabrication of CZTSSe solar cell in superstrate configuration. In this work, superstrate-type configuration of glass/ITO/CdS/CZTSSe/Au was entirely fabricated by totally vacuum-based process. CZTSSe absorber layers were grown by RF magnetron sputtering technique using stacked layer procedure. SnS, CuSe and ZnSe solid targets were used as precursors and no additional step like the selenization process was applied. The...
