Reaction of cyclopropylcarbene-molybdenum complexes and alkynes leads to cycloheptadienones. The conditions for this reaction are considerably milder than those for the corresponding tungsten complexes.

STRUCTURAL STABILITY AND ENERGETICS OF THE PHOSPHORUS MICROCLUSTERS P-2 TO P-10 - AN MNDO CALCULATION
YILMAZ, H (1992-05-25)
The geometries of the low-lying isomers of phosphorus P2 to P10 were calculated using the semiempirical modified neglect of diatomic overlap method. It was found that, in those cases (P2 and P4) where spectroscopic data are available, the bond strengths are overestimated. The binding energies were found to be underestimated in those cases (P2, P3 and P4) where thermodynamically derived values for the gas phase are available. A roof-shaped tetramer is a prominent structural unit in low-lying states of P5, P6...
Reaction of Metal-Carbene Complexes with Cyclobutenediones: The First General C-C Bond Insertion Reaction for Fischer Carbene Complexes
Zora, Metin (American Chemical Society (ACS), 1993-01-01)
Alkylcarbene-chromium complexes react with cyclobutenediones to give 2-alkoxy-4-cyclopentene-1,3-diones in moderate yield, accompanied by varying amounts of 4-cyclopentene-1,3-dione derivatives which result from reduction of the initial product by the chromium byproduct. The reaction is general for a variety of cyclobutenedione derivatives with alkoxy, alkyl, or aryl substituents. The major products of the reaction between arylcarbene complexes and cyclobutenediones are 5-alkylidenefuranone derivatives. A m...
Reaction of ferrocenylcarbene complexes of Cr, Mo and W with alkynes: Synthesis of ferrocenylcyclobutenones, ferrocenylfurans and ferrocenylketoesters
Zora, Metin (Elsevier BV, 2001-07-09)
Ferrocenylcarbene complexes of Cr, Mo and W react with alkynes to produce cyclobutenones, furans and/or ketoesters. The reaction is quite sensitive to the substituents of the alkyne, regardless of the identity of the metal. Cyclobutenones are formed only in the reactions of diphenylacetylene, a rare occurrence for metal carbene complexes. Ketoesters are secondary reaction products and result From oxidation of furan derivatives during the course of the reaction and/or silica-gel chromatography.
Preparation of seven-membered rings by the reaction of cyclopropylcarbene-tungsten and molybdenum complexes with alkynes
Herndon, James W.; Zora, Metin; Patel, Paren P.; CHATTERJEE, Gautam; Matasi, Julius J.; Tumer, Seniz U. (1993-01-01)
The reaction between alkynes and cyclopropylcarbene-tungsten and molybdenum complexes has been examined. Depending upon the conditions of the reaction, either cycloheptadienones or furanones are obtained. The scope, limitation, and mechanistic rationale for observed selectivities are discussed.
Synthesis of various camphor-based chiral pyridine derivatives
Tanyeli, Cihangir; Isik, M (Elsevier BV, 2004-07-19)
(+)-beta-Hydroxymethylenecamphor 1 and enamines 2a-e were transformed into chiral camphor-based pyridine derivatives 3a-e via a tandem condensation reaction in good yields.
