Efficient Methods of Clutter Suppression for Coexisting Land and Weather Clutter Systems
Candan, Çağatay; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2009-10-01)
The removal of coexisting land and weather clutter signals is a common problem in many radar applications. Although the optimal method for land-weather clutter suppression is known, it is usually not amenable to implementation due to computation and storage limitations of the processor. We propose an alternative method that employs low rank approximations on weather clutter correlation matrix to obtain detectors which are feasible to implement. The performance of the proposed method is compared with the opt...
Effective stress based constitutive modelling and assessment of seismic pile-soil interaction in liquefiable soils
Ünsal Oral, Sevinç; Çetin, Kemal Önder; Department of Civil Engineering (2014)
The assessment of liquefaction-induced deformations of foundation soils located in seismically active regions has been a major concern for geotechnical earthquake engineers. Inspite of the existing efforts, the prediction of these deformations has remained a "soft" area of practice. Inspired by this gap, a new fully coupled, two-dimensional, effective stress-based, nonlinear and simplified constitutive model, referred to as METUSAND, is developed. As a part of the model development efforts, a “C++” subrouti...
Effective factors improving catalyst layers of PEM fuel cell
Avcioglu, Gokce S.; FIÇICILAR, BERKER; Eroğlu, İnci (Elsevier BV, 2018-06-07)
Cathode catalyst layer has an important role on water management across the membrane electrode assembly (MEA). Effect of Pt percentage in commercial catalyst and Pt loading from the viewpoint of activity and water management on performance was investigated. Physical and electrochemical characteristics of conventional and hydrophobic catalyst layers were compared. Performance results revealed that power density of conventional catalyst layers (CLs) increased from 0.28 to 0.64 W/cm(2) at 0.45 V with the incre...
Effective structure-from-motion for hybrid camera systems
Baştanlar, Yalın; Temizel, Alptekin; Yardımcı, Yasemin; STURM, Peter (2010-08-26)
We describe a pipeline for structure-from-motion with mixed camera types, namely omni directional and perspective cameras. The steps of the pipeline can be summarized as calibration, point matching, pose estimation, triangulation and bundle adjustment. For these steps, we either propose improved methods or modify existing perspective camera methods to make the pipeline more effective and automatic when employed for hybrid camera systems.
