Numerical modeling of Edremit geothermal field
Günay, Emre; Karahanoğlu, Nurkan; Department of Geological Engineering (2012)
The purpose of this study is to examine the geothermal potential, sustainability, and reinjection possibility of Edremit geothermal field. In order to investigate this, a numerical model consisting of a hot and cold water aquifer system is established. A two dimensional cross sectional model is set to simulate this geothermal system. Different pressure and temperature values are applied to the nodes at the boundaries to perform a steady state calibration which minimizes the computed results and observed val...
Geochemical evaluation and conceptual modeling of Edremit geothermal field
Avşar, Özgür; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan; Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Department of Geological Engineering (2011)
Edremit geothermal field with 42-62 °C discharge temperatures is utilized for space heating. Alternation of permeable and impermeable units created two superimposed aquifers in the area: upper unconfined and lower confined. Water samples from 21 (hot, warm, cold) wells were taken in this study. 8 of these wells penetrate the deeper confined, while 13 penetrate the shallower unconfined aquifer. Geochemical analysis revealed Na+K–SO4 nature for the hot (>40°C), Ca–HCO3 nature for the cold (<30°C) and Ca–SO4 n...
Edremit Jeotermal Sahasının Araştırılması Ve Değerlendirilmesi
Güleç, Nilgün Türkan(2008-12-31)
Önerilen proje, hidrojeokimyasal modellemeler yoluyla, Edremit-Balıkesir sahasının jeotermal enerji potansiyelinin belirlenmesi ve geliştirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda inceleme alanında açılmış sondajlardan, çevresindeki kaynaklardan su örnekleri alınarak jeokimyasal çalışmalar yapılacak ve çalışma sonuçları aşağıda belirtilen özelliklerin/süreçlerin belirlenmesi/irdelenmesinde kullanılacaktır: 1) su tipleri ve hidrojeokimyasal fasiyesler 2) kökensel özellikler (meteorik, magmatik, hidrotermal̷...
Evaluation of metal concentrations in groundwater nearby Soma coal-fired power plant
Sası, Gıuma; Tuncel, Semra G.; Department of Chemistry (2005)
In this work, metal pollution in groundwater near by Soma coal-fired power plant was invistigated. Coal combustion results in huge amounts of bottom ash from which metals can originate and migrate to groundwater and pollute it. Forty groundwater samples were collected from water wells in an area near by the power plant to determine 14 metals namely; Na, Ca, K, Mg, Al, Ba, Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, Cd, Ni and V. Samples were collected in polyethylene bottles, the pH of the water was measured. Then, the samples wer...
