Reactions in hydroxylapatite-zirconia composites

2007-01-01
Sintered composites of hydroxylapatite (HA) and zirconia were studied with X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Addition of zirconia caused increased decomposition of the HA in composites sintered at 1100 degrees C and 1300 degrees C, forming tricalcium phosphate phases (TCP). The volume of the unit cell of HA increased as the concentration of zirconia in the composites increased. These results are explained as resulting from exchange of Ca2+ and ZrO2+ ions between the HA and the zirconia. The porosity of the sintered composites increased with increase in zirconia concentration in the composites, probably because of water formed by the decomposition of the HA. DERIVATIVES OF POLY(PYRROLE) WITH DECONJUGATED CARBONYL SUBSTITUENTS IN BETA-POSITION
VOIGT, M; GEISSLER, U; HAASE, V; VOIGT, B; HALLENSLEBEN, ML; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 1993-03-22)
Four omega-(3-pyrrolyl)esters were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electron microscopy and conductivity measurements. The corresponding poly(pyrrole) derivatives exhibit enhanced conductivities compared to poly(3-acylpyrrole)s, and their electrochemical behavior resembles that of poly(3-alkylpyrrole)s rather than the poly(3-acylpyrrole) derivatives. Ester saponification occurring during electropolymerization was examined by gas chromatography.
Effect of isomorphic atom substitution on the lattice parameters and the optical absorption edge of TIGaSe2-TllnSe2 mixed crystals
Hasanlı, Nızamı (2006-05-01)
The variation of lattice parameters of TlGaSe2-TlInSe 2 mixed crystals with composition have been investigated by using of X-ray diffraction technique. For the mixed crystals studied, a structural phase transition (monoclinic to tetragonal) due to atom substitution is observed when the sum of the tetrahedral covalent radii of the Ga(In) and the Se atoms in Ga(In)Se4 tetrahedra reaches a critical value of about 0.254 nm. From transmission and reflection measurements, the compositional dependence of the indir...
Synthesis of iron borophosphates and phosphates with zeo-type structures
Tuncel, Selcan; Kızılyallı, Meral; Department of Chemistry (2004)
New iron phosphate and borophosphate compounds were synthesized and characterized by single crystal/powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, electron microscopy and elemental analysis. Using several compositions, Fey B(PO4)x type of compounds were attempted to be prepared by solid state reactions. The solid state reactions of boron compounds with a phosphating agent has been completed at 950oC. A new product Fe2BP3O12 is synthesized and indexed in this...
Synthesis and characterization of aluminoborophosphate compounds by hydrothermal and solid-state methods
Karabıçak, Seher; Kızılyallı, Meral; Department of Chemistry (2004)
The hydrothermal and solid state methods were used in the synthesis of some aluminoborophosphate compounds. The products were investigated by using XRD, IR, DTA, DSC, ICP and SEM methods. The solid state reactions have been studied in the range 700 ا 1200?C. Using several hydrothermal methods a novel aluminum phosphate compound Al3-xBxP3O12 was synthesized. The crystal system was found to be tetragonal with a=17.1629 and c = 12.6084A° unit cell parameters and space group is P4212 (No:90). In anorthite miner...
Effect of synthesis parameters on the surface morphology of conducting polypyrrole films
Kaynak, A (1997-03-01)
Surface morphology of polypyrrole films was investigated by using atomic force and scanning electron microscopy techniques. Synthesis parameters such as dopant concentration and synthesis time and subsequent heat treatment were found to affect the surface morphology of electrochemically synthesized polypyrrole films. Mean height, root-mean-square roughness, and nodule diameter increased with increasing dopant concentration and synthesis time. Lightly doped, semiconducting films had smoother surface morpholo...
