New fused-aromatic quinoxaline and thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine based monomers; 10,12-bis(4-hexylthiophen-2-yl)dibenzo[f,h]thieno[3,4-b]quinoxaline (HTBQ) and 10,13-bis(4-hexylthiophen-2-yl)dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine (HTPP) were synthesized. Electrochemical polymerization of HTBQ and HTPP were performed in acetonitrile/dichloromethane (ACN/DCM) solution containing LiClO(4)/NaClO(4). Spectroelectrochemical behavior and switching ability of PHTBQ and PHTPP films were investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy. The polymer films showed reversible electrochemical oxidation with high contrast ratios in the NIR region with low switching times. PHTBQ revealed color changes between brick color and green in the reduced and oxidized states. PHTPP changed color from green to gray when the polymer film was switched between its redox states.

Electrochromic Properties of a Copolymer of 1-4-Di[2,5-di(2-thieny1)-1H-1-pyrroly1]benzene with EDOT
KİRALP, S; ÇAMURLU, PINAR; Günbaş, Emrullah Görkem; Tanyeli, Cihangir; AKHMEDOV, I; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2009-04-15)
Homopolymer of 1-4-di[2,5-di(2-thienyl)- 1H-1-pyrroly1]benzene and its copolymer with 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) were electrochemically synthesized and characterized. Resulting homopolymer and copolymer films have distinct electrochromic properties. At the neutral state, homopolymer has lambda(max) due to the pi-pi* transition as 410 nm and E-g was calculated as 2.03 eV. The resultant copolymer revealed multichromism through the entire visible region, displaying red-violet, brownish yellow green, and...
Synthesis and electropolymerization of 3,4-substituted quinoxaline functionalized pyrrole monomer and optoelectronic properties of its polymer
KURTAY, GÜLBİN; AK, METİN; GÜLLÜ, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Ak, Mine Sulak (2014-08-01)
We synthesized a new electroactive pyrrole functionalized monomer; 2-butyl-5,12-dihydro-2H-pyrrolo[3',4':2,3][1,4]dioxocino[6,7-b]quinoxaline (BuDQP) where beta-positions of the pyrrole ring are blocked. With the help of this strategy, formation of alpha-beta linkages during polymerization was prevented, resulting in a more regiochemically defined material. Characterization of newly synthesized compounds was performed by FTIR, GC-MS,H-1 NMR,C-13 NMR techniques and elemental analysis. Polymerization and copo...
Spray coatable electrochromic dioxythiophene polymers with high coloration efficiencies
REEVES, Benjamin D.; GRENIER, Christophe R.G.; ARGUN, Avni A.; Çırpan, Ali; MCCARLEY, Tracy D.; REYNOLDS, John R. (2004-10-05)
Four new disubstituted propylenedioxythiophene polymers have been synthesized by Grignard metathesis on the 1-5 g scale. All polymers were found to be soluble in chloroform, methylene chloride, toluene, and tetrahydrofuran and were fully structurally characterized having GPC determined number-average molecular weights ranging from 33000 to 47000 g mol(-1). Dilute polymer solutions in toluene exhibited strong red fluorescence with moderate quantum efficiencies from 0.38 to 0.50. Homogeneous thin films were f...
Electrochemical copolymerization of 2-substituted thiophene derivative linked by polyether bridge with thiophene
Cihaner, A; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (2005-09-01)
New conducting copolymers have been synthesized via electrochemical oxidation of thiophene (Th) in the presence of monomer bis(2-thienyl)ethyl (1). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) studies showed that the presence of monomer I in the electrolytic solution greatly changes the CV behaviour of the formation of the polythiophene films. It is found that the increasing ratio of I was found to decrease electroactivity of copoly(I-Th). Electrochemical synthesis of copolymer films was achieved via constant potential electrol...
Synthesis and electrochromic properties of conducting copolymers of dioxocino-and dithiocino- quinoxalines with bithiophene
Beyazyıldırım, Şenize; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2005)
Two new monomers; 2-benzyl-5,12-dihydro-2Hpyrrolo[ 3̕,4̕:2,3][1,4]dioxocino[6,7-b]quinoxaline (DPOQ) and 5,12- dihydrothieno[3̕,4̕:2,3][1,4]dithiocino[6,7-b]quinoxaline (DTTQ), were synthesized. The chemical structures of the monomers were characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-NMR), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Mass Spectrometry (MS). Copolymer of DPOQ with bithiophene (BT) was synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization in acetonitrile (ACN)-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluo...
