Implicit Large Eddy Simulation of high-speed non-reacting and reacting air/H-2 jets with a 5th order WENO scheme
Karaca, M.; Lardjane, N.; Karaca, Mehmet (2012-06-01)
This work reports the results of Large Eddy Simulation based on a dissipative 5th order finite-difference WENO scheme. with explicit subgrid model (LES) and without (ILES), in the specific case of multi-component high speed free shear flows. Transonic non-reacting and supersonic reacting H-2 jets in coflowing air, typical of scramjet engines, are chosen to be the flow prototypes for this study. Numerical simulations are performed at resolutions ranging from 32 x 32 x 128 to 256 x 256 x 1024. Explicit subgri...
Pseudo-Dynamic Testing and Analytical Modeling of AAC Infilled RC Frames
Sucuoğlu, Haluk (2014-01-01)
Two concrete frames were tested by the PsD procedure. One frame was bare and the other was infilled with AAC blocks in the middle bay. The objective was to determine the effect of AAC infills on the seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames and developing an AAC strut model. Based on the test results, it was found that AAC infill panels did not modify the deformation response of the RC test frame significantly; however, shear in diagonal strut must be considered in boundary column design. A shear de...

Implicit Interactions with a Peculiar Radio: Designing an Interactive Artefact for Fostering Meaningful Music-Listening Experiences
Seydioğlu, Ömür Sarper; Pedgley, Owaın Francıs; Department of Industrial Design (2021-7-28)
Interacting with internet-enabled artefacts has become an indispensable norm of an everyday person’s life as it can reduce otherwise demanding tasks down to a flick of a finger. Whereas consumption and utilisation of vast amount of information have also became a norm for navigating through the world’s digital commodities – rendering almost every single action an informed decision. On the other hand, music-listening is an ephemeral experience per se, yet it became a certainty to interact with extrinsic attri...
