Both the trans and cis isomers of [Ru(acac)(2){P(OMe)(3)}(2)] were isolated in the form of single crystals and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis, MS, (1)H, (13)C and (31)P NMR spectroscopy. The compounds of ruthenium(II), both mononuclear complexes, crystallize in triclinic P (1) over bar space group. The metal ion in both compounds has similar, slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry. Both complexes were tested as catalyst in hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride. When used alone, none of the trans-and cis-[Ru(acac)(2){P(OMe)(3)}(2)] complexes shows significant catalytic activity. However, the catalytic activity of cis-[Ru(acac)(2){P(OMe)(3)}(2)] in the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride is significantly enhanced by the addition of two equivalents of trimethylphosphite per ruthenium into the medium.

Photocatalytic hydrosilylation of conjugated dienes with triethylsilane in the presence of Cr(CO)(5)L(L=CO, P(CH3)(3), P(OCH3)(3))
Özkar, Saim; Kayran, C (Elsevier BV, 1997-04-15)
The effect of donor ligands on the chromium carbonyl photocatalysed hydrosilylation of 1,3-butadiene, 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene, 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene, trans-1,3-pentadiene with triethylsilane was studied. Photocatalytic hydrosilylation of dienes conducted in the presence of Cr(CO)(5)L (L = P(CH3)(3) or P(OCH3)(3)) yields the cis-1,4-adducts, 1-triethylsilyl-2-butene derivatives, as the main products; these have been isolated by distillation or preparative GC and fully characterised by NMR spectroscopy. Chemoenzymatic synthesis of 2-ethyl-5-hydroxy-3- methoxy-cyclopent-2-enone
Dalfidan, Çağla; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Department of Chemistry (2005)
Chiral hydroxylated cyclopentane derivatives are important precursors for biologically active compounds. Synthesis of these types of compounds in optically pure form found increased interest in pharmaceutical chemistry. 2-ethyl-cyclopentane-1.3-dione was acetoxylated using manganese III acetate at preferred positions. Enzyme catalyzed enantioselective hydrolysis or enantioselective acetoxylation of hydrolyzed acetoxy derivatives gives the corresponding hydroxylated diketones in optically pure form.
Synthesis of ferrocenyl quinolines
Zora, Metin (Elsevier BV, 2008-06-01)
A convenient one-pot synthesis of ferrocenyl-substituted quinolines via a molecular iodine-catalyzed reaction of ferrocenylimines with enolizable aldehydes is reported. First, nucleophilic addition of the in situ generated enol to ferrocenylimine produces beta-anilinopropionaldehyde, which then undergoes intramolecular Friedel-Crafts reaction to give dihydroquinoline derivative. Finally, subsequent dehydration and aerobic oxidation affords ferrocenyl quinolines.
Electrochemistry of nickel(II) complexes with N,N'-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylidene)polymethylenediamines
Ozalp-Yaman, S; Kasumov, VT; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Elsevier BV, 2005-10-03)
The electrochemical oxidation of several N,N'-polymethylenebis(3,5-di-tert- butylsalicylaldiminato)nickel(II) complexes, Ni(L-x), has been studied by cyclic voltammetry and in situ UV-Vis spectroscopy in DMF Cyclic voltammograms of Ni(L-x) (x = 1-4) complexes displayed two-step oxidation processes under nitrogen gas atmosphere. The first oxidation peak potentials of all the Ni(II) complexes corresponds to the reversible one-electron oxidation process of the metal center, yielding Ni(III) species. EPR spectr...
Chemoenzymatic synthesis of alpha(1)- and alpha-acetoxylated cyclic ketones
Tanyeli, Cihangir; Akhmedov, M (Elsevier BV, 2004-06-07)
alpha,beta-Unsaturated and saturated cyclic ketones were selectively oxidized at the alpha'- and alpha-positions using Mn(OAc)(3) and Pb(OAc)(4), respectively, resulting in high chemical yields. The resultant racemic alpha'- and alpha-acetoxylated substrates were resolved into corresponding enantiomerically enriched alpha'- and alpha-hydroxylated and acetoxylated compounds with 96-98% ee via PLE hydrolysis. The absolute configurations of alpha'-acetoxy-alpha,beta-unsaturated cyclic ketones were determined b...
