Towards a UML profile for hla federation design, part II
Topcu, Okan; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S.; Hazen, Mark Gerald (null; 2003-01-01)
This paper proposes a set of metamodel extensions to UML for HLA federation design to support a more formalized and standardized description of the federation and federate design and documentation. In most cases a combination of this proposed profile and predefined standard UML model elements will be an effective way to design and document an HLA based simulation.
Toward a framework of product development for global markets: a user-value-based approach
Boztepe, Suzan (2007-07-01)
This paper discusses product development for global markets from the perspective of creating value for users in different cultural settings. Based on an ethnographic study on the use of and the value assignment to kitchen appliances of 29 urban families in Turkey and the United States, it investigates what constitutes value for users and how user value is shaped by local and cultural context. Four major categories of user value are presented. These include utility value, social significance value, emotional...
Toward a ground-motion logic tree for probabilistic seismic hazard assessment in Europe
Delavaud, Elise; Cotton, Fabrice; Akkar, Dede Sinan; Scherbaum, Frank; Danciu, Laurentiu; Beauval, Celine; Drouet, Stephane; Douglas, John; Basili, Roberto; Sandikkaya, M. Abdullah; Segou, Margaret; Faccioli, Ezio; Theodoulidis, Nikos (2012-07-01)
The Seismic Hazard Harmonization in Europe (SHARE) project, which began in June 2009, aims at establishing new standards for probabilistic seismic hazard assessment in the Euro-Mediterranean region. In this context, a logic tree for ground-motion prediction in Europe has been constructed. Ground-motion prediction equations (GMPEs) and weights have been determined so that the logic tree captures epistemic uncertainty in ground-motion prediction for six different tectonic regimes in Europe. Here we present th...
Towards a New Walking Evaluation Approach: Power of Surveys and Routebased Evaluations in GIS Environment
Tüydeş Yaman, Hediye; Karataş Sevinen, Pınar; Dalkıç, Gülçin; Oncu, Zeynep Pınar (2022-10-01)
Walking is a critical mode to be encouraged in sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMPs). However, the lack of analysis methodology is making it challenging to detect walkability aspects necessary to develop better policies. Middle East Technical University (METU) Campus was designed with a pedestrian-friendly layout which has been threatened recently by different factors (i.e. enlargement of the campus, changing traffic volumes, etc.). This necessitated further investigation of walking and walkability ...
