With the advent of the LHC, it is important to devise clear tests for physics beyond the standard model. Such physics could manifest itself in the form of new charged bosons, whose presence is most naturally occurring in left-right symmetric models. We analyze the single W-R boson production in an asymmetric left-right model, where the left and right quark mixing matrices are not constrained to be equal. We investigate the cross sections as well as branching ratios of W-R bosons at the LHC, including constraints from low energy phenomenology. We then look for most likely signals in pp -> W(R)t -> t(dijet) production. Including the background, we find that the LHC could show significant signals for the new charged bosons. We compare our results throughout with the manifest left-right symmetric model and comment on similarities and differences.

Observation of a new particle in the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2012-09-17)
A search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. The datasets used correspond to integrated luminosities of approximately 4.8 fb(-1) collected at, root s = 7 TeV in 2011 and 5.8 fb(-1) at root s = 8 TeV in 2012. Individual searches in the channels H -> ZZ(()*()) -> 4l, H -> gamma gamma and H -> WW (()*()) -> ev mu v in the 8 TeV data are combined with previously published results of searches for H -> ZZ(()*()), WW(*()), b (b) over bar a...
Observation of a new boson with mass near 125 GeV in pp collisions at root s=7 and 8 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-06-01)
A detailed description is reported of the analysis used by the CMS Collaboration in the search for the standard model Higgs boson in pp collisions at the LHC, which led to the observation of a new boson. The data sample corresponds to integrated luminosities up to 5.1 fb(-1) at root s = 7 TeV, and up to 5.3 fb(-1) at root s = 8 TeV. The results for five Higgs boson decay modes gamma gamma, ZZ, WW, tau tau, and bb, which show a combined local significance of 5 standard deviations near 125 GeV, are reviewed. ...
Measurement and interpretation of differential cross sections for Higgs boson production at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2019-05-01)
Differential Higgs boson (H) production cross sections are sensitive probes for physics beyond the standard model. New physics may contribute in the gluon-gluon fusion loop, the dominant Higgs boson production mechanism at the LHC, and manifest itself through deviations from the distributions predicted by the standard model. Combined spectra for the H -> gamma gamma, H -> ZZ, and H -> b (b) over bar decay channels and the inclusive Higgs boson production cross section are presented, based on proton-proton c...
Charged-particle multiplicities in pp interactions at root s=900 GeV measured with the ATLAS detector at the LHC ATLAS Collaboration
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2010-04-26)
The first measurements from proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. Data were collected in December 2009 using a minimum-bias trigger during collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 900 GeV. The charged-particle multiplicity, its dependence on transverse momentum and pseudorapidity, and the relationship between mean transverse momentum and charged-particle multiplicity are measured for events with at least one charged particle in the kinematic range vertical bar e...
Production of single heavy charged leptons at a linear collider
De Pree, Erin; Sher, Marc; Turan, İsmail (American Physical Society (APS), 2008-05-01)
A sequential fourth generation of quarks and leptons is allowed by precision electroweak constraints if the mass splitting between the heavy quarks is between 50 and 80 GeV. Although heavy quarks can be easily detected at the LHC, it is very difficult to detect a sequential heavy charged lepton, L, due to large backgrounds. Should the L mass be above 250 GeV, it cannot be pair-produced at a 500 GeV ILC. We calculate the cross section for the one-loop process e(+)e(-)-> L tau. Although the cross section is s...
