The synthesis of bis(2,4,6-trihalophenolato)di/or mono(pyridine)nickel(II) complexes and their characterisation by FT-IR, DSC and elemental analysis were achieved. The polymerisation of these complexes was accomplished in potassium perchlorate solution in N,N-dimethylformamide by constant potential electrolysis, at room temperature. The structural analysis of the polymers was performed using FT-IR, H-1-NMR and C-13-NMR spectroscopic techniques, DSC for the thermal analysis and molecular weight by GPC. The kinetics of the polymerisations were followed by in situ UV-VIS spectroscopy, during the constant potential or constant current electrolysis in two different solvents. The mechanism of the polymerisation was investigated by in situ ESR spectroscopy. There was no induction period for the polymerisation during electrolysis.

Polymerisation of bis(trichlorophenolato)tri(pyridine)nickel and bis (trihalophenolato)di(pyridine)nickel (II) complexes in solid state
Kisakurek, D; Aslan, A; Isci, H (2000-06-01)
The synthesis of five-coordinated bis(trihalophenolato)tri (pyridine)nickel (II) and four-coordinated his (trihalophenolato)di(pyridine) nickel(II) complexes from an aqueous solution and their characterisation by FT-IR, X-ray, DSC and elemental analysis is described. The thermal polymerisation of these complexes was carried out in the solid state and in the melt. Structural analyses were performed using H-1 NMRI C-13 NMR and FT-IR spectroscopic analyses. T(g)s were determined by differential thermal analysi...
SOLID-STATE POLYMERIZATION OF BIS(TRICHLOROPHENOXO) COBALT(II) COMPLEX TO GIVE POLY(DICHLOROPHENYLENE OXIDE)
BASTURKMEN, M; ISCI, H; KISAKUREK, D (Wiley, 1993-01-01)
Synthesis of four-coordinated (tetrahedral) trichlorophenol cobalt(II) complex with neutral ligand pyridine was achieved from the aqueous solution and its characterization was performed by UV-visible, IR spectral and CHN analysis. Solid state thermal polymerization of the complex was accomplished first at constant temperature employing different time intervals and secondly at constant decomposition time. The poly(dichlorophenylene oxide)s so synthesized were characterized by IR, H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR spectra...
Thermal polymerization of bis(4-fluoro-2,6-dibromophenolato)bis(pyridine)copper(II) complex in solution and in solid state
Kisakurek, D; Akbas, M; Bilir, N (Wiley, 1998-02-01)
The synthesis of the bis(4-fluoro-2,6-dibromophenolato)bis(pyridine)copper(II) complex was achieved from aqueous solution, and its characterization was performed by means-of IR and CHN elemental analysis. Thermal polymerization of this complex was carried out in toluene and in solid state. The structural analysis of the polymers was performed with H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and FTIR analysis; the glass transition temperature was found to be at 160 degrees C. 4-Fluoro-2,6-dibromophenolate, with the non-chelating liga...
Polymerization and characterization of various tetrakis(trihalophenolato)cerium (IV) complexes in the solid state and in the melt
Senturk, O; Sultan, W; Kisakurek, D (2002-01-01)
The synthesis of various tetrakis(trihalophenolato)cerium(IV) complexes from an aqueous solution and their characterisations by means of FTIR, DSC, elemental analyses, mass spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements is described. The thermal polymerisation of these complexes were carried out in the solid state and in the melt. Structural analyses of polymers were performed by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and FTIR spectroscopic analyses, T-g by differential scanning calorimetry, as well as the molecular weig...
Asymmetric synthesis of 1,4-amino alcohol ligands with a norbornene backbone for use in the asymmetric diethylzinc addition to benzaldehyde
Tanyeli, Cihangir (Elsevier BV, 2005-06-06)
The asymmetric synthesis of cis-1,4-amino alcohols with a norbornene backbone was performed starting with (2S,3R)(-)-cis-hemiester 2 (98% ee). Chemoselective amination with NH4OH and HMPTA followed by LAH reduction afforded 5 and 7. respectively. Amido ester 6 was transformed into chiral ligand 9 with Grignard reaction followed by LAH reduction. The chiral ligands 5. 7. and 9 were subjected to asymmetric diethylzinc addition to examine their effectiveness as chiral catalysts. Among these, c chiral ligand 7 ...
