Physical Realization and Reflection Phase Characteristics of a Flexible High Impedance Surface
Durgun, Ahmet Cemal; Birtcher, Craig R. (2011-01-01)
This paper presents the fabrication and reflection phase measurements of a flexible high impedance surface (FHIS). The surface is fabricated by using DuPont pyralux polyimide as the substrate. Cyanoacrylate is used to adhere the samples of polyimide. The reflection phase response of the FHIS, which is curved in the form of a cylinder, is measured in the anechoic chamber and compared with that of the flat FHIS. As expected, reflection phase characteristics of the curved FHIS are polarization dependent and sl...
Physical Stability Analysis for Optical MEMS Phase Shifters
Ozer, Yigit; Kocaman, Serdar (2018-10-04)
Stability and switching performance of light force driven opto-mechanical phase shifters are examined and a formula determining the stability condition has been proposed for various structures. The analysis showed that cantilever beams are inadequate to generate 180 phase difference.
Physical properties of CdSe thin films produced by thermal evaporation and e-beam techniques
Huş, Şaban Mustafa; Parlak, Mehmet; Department of Physics (2006)
CdSe thin films were deposited by thermal evaporation and e-beam evaporation techniques on to well cleaned glass substrates. Low dose of boron have been implanted on a group of samples. EDAX and X-ray patterns revealed that almost stoichiometric polycrystalline films have been deposited in (002) preferred orientation. An analysis of optical measurements revealed a sharp increase in absorption coefficient below 700 nm and existence of a direct allowed transition. The calculated band gap was around 1.7 eV. Th...
Physical Characterization of Inclusion Complexes of Triphenyl Phosphate and Cyclodextrins in Solution.
Zhang, N; Zane, CP; Chen, Y; Yıldırım, Erol; Hinks, D; Tonelli, AE; Vinueza, NR; Pasquinelli, MA (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2020-01-16)
The goal of this work is to provide physical insights into the formation and stability of inclusion complexes (ICs) in aqueous solution between cyclodextrins (CDs) and a common flame retardant, triphenyl phosphate (TPP). Quantum chemistry calculations reveal the possible energetically favorable geometries of TPP in their 1:1 IC form with α-, β-, and γ-CDs as well as their associated complexation, conformational, and interaction energies. High-resolution mass spectrometry (MS) and tandem MS were used with el...
Physical Properties of Particulate Matter Emitted from Combustion of Coals of Various Ranks in O-2/N-2 and O-2/CO2 Environments
Kazanç Özerinç, Feyza (2012-12-01)
This work examined the particulate emissions from pulverized coals burning under either conventional or oxyfuel combustion conditions. Oxyfuel combustion is a process that takes place in O-2/CO2 environments, which are achieved by removing nitrogen from the intake gases and recirculating large amounts of flue gases into the boiler; this is done to moderate the high temperatures caused by the elevated oxygen partial pressure therein. In this study, combustion took place in a laboratory laminar-flow drop-tube...
