The reasons behind lack of technology integration into education
İslim, Ömer Faruk; Çağıltay, Kürşat (null; 2017-10-22)
If the history of Instructional Technology is examined, it is seen that each technological device was admitted as a revolutionary solution to educational problems and was adapted to educational system. Nevertheless, none of these devices were reached to expected high goals. For instance, in 1913, Mr. Thomas Edison stated that motion picture would solve the educational problems, books would be useless and all the information that humankind had would be told via motion picture (Cuban, 1986; Reiser, 2002); but...
The determinants of air passenger traffic at Turkish airports
Albayrak, Muhammed Bilge Kagan; Ozcan, Ismail Cagri; Can, Raif; Dobruszkes, Frederic (Elsevier BV, 2020-07-01)
Investigating the determinants of air passenger traffic has become commonplace. In contrast with most previous publications, this paper investigates these determinants in an emerging country, Turkey, at the provincial level between 2004 and 2014. We find that GDP/capita, population, distance to alternative airports, tourism, leading cities, and international migrations all support more air traffic. Furthermore, market concentration is associated with less traffic, and the presence of academics with more tra...
The Determinants of food inflation in Turkey
Erol, Erdal; Yıldırım Kasap, Dilem; Department of Economics (2017)
The major aim of this study is to find out the best models which identifies the determinants of food inflation in Turkey over the period 2003(1)-2013(12). To this end, a linear ARIMAX model is constructed by adopting an exhaustive search algorithm that is designed to select the model with most appropriate food inflation correlates. The best two models out of all candidate models having the minimum AIC and BIC values are evaluated in the estimation and prediction analyses. Roughly, our empirical results reve...
The Social psychological predictors of pedestrian behaviors
Demir, Başar; Özkan, Türker; Department of Psychology (2017)
Pedestrian violations are a major traffic safety problem in low and middle-income countries. Pedestrians have a high responsibility in accidents due to their unsafe behaviors. The problem worsens further by the scarcity of theory-based research to improve our understanding of pedestrian violations. The current behavioral classification on road user behavior suggest that skill-based, rule-based, and knowledge-based performance levels lead to violations, errors, and positive behaviors. These are distinct doma...
THE PREDICTORS OF SUCCESS IN COMPUTER COURSES AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Baloğlu, Mustafa; Abbassi, Amir; Cevik, Vildan (SAGE Publications, 2009-06-01)
High school students report high computer anxiety. The addition of three computer anxiety dimensions (i.e., Affective Anxiety, Damaging Anxiety, and Learning Anxiety) improved the prediction of computer course grades beyond that afforded by the differences in academic achievement. 700 Turkish high school students (386 boys, 314 girls) enrolled in high school computer courses participated. The Computer Anxiety Scale and a personal data sheet were used to collect the data in the study. Computer Course grades ...
