An expression for the order–disorder transformation temperature in substitutional alloys of AB3‐type is determined in terms of the classical theory of ordering in alloys with low impurity concentration. The order–disorder transformation temperature is shown to increase at the initial stages of alloying at any relations of ordering energies. The data on theoretical calculations are compared with experimental ones obtained with Ni3Fe alloy doped by different impurities. Much consideration is given to results obtained with Ni3(Fe1−xMnx) alloys. Using neutron diffraction analysis, the lack of Ni24Fe4Mn4 ternary superstructure is shown, and the TK(x) dependence with the extremum at x ≈ 0.4 is obtained from dilatometric and specific heat measurement

ANOMALOUS AMPLITUDE DEPENDENT DISLOCATION DAMPING ASSOCIATED WITH ANHARMONIC OSCILLATIONS OF A COULOMBIC KINK CHAIN IN THE NONLINEAR DISSIPATIVE ATMOSPHERE OF IMPURITY ATOMS
OGURTANI, TO (Wiley, 1991-11-16)
The effects of the anharmonic interaction of the Coulombic kink chain on the strength and the position of the cold-work internal friction peaks associated with the nonlinearly power dissipating impurity atoms are investigated by a novel numerical simulation of the related discrete mathematical macro-model. The present macroscopic model of dislocation damping which relies heavily on the microscopic theory of kink-interstitial interactions shows very strong anomalous strain amplitude as well as the bias stres...
Critical behaviour of the polarization, tilt angle, electric susceptibility and the specific heat close to the SmA-ferroelectric SmC (SmC*) phase transitions
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Kilit, E. (Informa UK Limited, 2006-01-01)
This study gives the temperature dependence of the two order parameters, namely, polarization P and the tilt angle theta, when there is a biquadratic coupling P-2 theta(2) in the expansion of the Landau free energy. This applies to the electric-field-induced SmA-Ferro-Electric SmC (SmC*) phase transition. From this expansion of the Landau free energy in terms of the polarization and the tilt angle, we obtain the temperature dependence of the electric susceptibility chi and the electric field dependence of t...

Acceptor 1s-2p(+/-) transitions in GaAs/Ga0.7Al0.3As quantum wells: Effects of spatially dependent screening under electric and magnetic fields
Akbas, H; Aktas, S; Okan, SE; Ulas, M; Tomak, Mehmet (Wiley, 1998-02-01)
The valence subband energies in the presence of an electric-field are calculated using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. The 1s- and 2p(+/-)-like acceptor states in the presence of a magnetic field are then calculated variationally. The effects of the spatially dependent screening function epsilon(r) on the calculation of the transition energies are specifically investigated. The use of a constant epsilon(o) is shown to yield better agreement with experimental results.
Dielectric Properties of HDOBAMBC Close to the Smectic A-Chiral Smectic C (AC*) Transition
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Informa UK Limited, 2015-06-01)
The temperature dependence of the dielectric susceptibility chi(g) is recalculated by making the elastic modulus K temperature dependent for the chiral smectic C phase in HDOBAMBC. For this calculation, the experimental data for the spontaneous polarization P-S, tilt angle theta and the helical pitch rho are used from literature close to the AC* transition in HDOBAMBC. The temperature dependences of the wave vector of the helical modulation q, the elastic free energy F and the critical electric field E-C ar...
