ESR studies have been carried out on ClO4--doped polyfuran (PF) and BF4--doped polythiophene (PT) films synthesized by constant potential electrolysis. Variation of spin concentration and linewidth of ESR signal with temperature were investigated. The temperature dependence of conductivity supported the Mott's variable range hopping mechanism for PT and PF freestanding films. Temperature dependence of activation energy indicated that hopping is the dominating mechanism of charge transport.

Thermally assisted variable range hopping in Tl4S3Se crystal
ZIQAN, ABDELHALIM M; QASRAWI, A F; MOHAMMAD, ABDULFTAH H; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2015-6)
In this study, a modified model for the application of the thermionic and hopping current conduction mechanisms in the presence of continuous mixed conduction is investigated, discussed, experimented and simulated. It is observed that there exists a contribution from the hopping conductivity to the total conduction even at temperature ranges where the thermionic emission is mainly dominant. The contribution weight of a specific mechanism at particular temperature range is estimated. In addition, a modifi...
Electrochemical synthesis of crowned conducting polymers : nature of radical cations in polymerization and mechanism of conductivity
Cihaner, Atilla; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar; Department of Chemistry (2004)
Poly(dibenzo-18-crown-6) (Poly(DB18C6)) was synthesized by electrochemical oxidation of dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DB18C6) using a mixture of acetonitrile and dichloromethane as solvent and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBABF4) or tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF6) as supporting electrolyte. The anodic polymerization of DB18C6 was investigated using in-situ ESR and in-situ UV-VIS spectroscopic techniques. Spectroelectrochemical (SPEL) properties and thermal analysis of the resulting polymers h...
Modified acrylic hydrogels as controlled release systems
Pınardağ, Fatma Esra; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Department of Chemistry (2006)
In this study, pH-sensitive poly(acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) hydrogels were synthesized as controlled release systems in the presence of N,N-methylene bisacrylamide as crosslinker and ammonium persulfate as initiator. A set of hydrogels were used in the form they were prepared. One set of hydrogels were prepared as porous networks by incorporating sodium chloride into the reaction medium and then leaching of it after the completion of polymerization reaction. Two sets of hydrogels were modified by argon-pla...
Hydrothermal and microwave synthesis of boron phosphate, BPO(4)
Baykal, Altan; Toprak, M; Kniep, R (2001-01-01)
BPO4 was previously synthesized by the solid state reactions of (NH4)(2)HPO4 and B2O3 at 1000 degreesC and was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and IR methods. We have now succeeded in preparing BPO4 from H3BO3 and P2O5 using hydrothermal synthesis by heating at 160 degreesC for 2 days and obtained a single phase product. We observed that a microwave-assisted synthesis takes only 3 to 5 minutes to transform a solid mixture of (NH4)(2)B4O7. 4H(2)O, and solid H3PO4 Or B2O3 + P2O5 into the crystalline...
Electrochemical polymerization and characterization of polyether-substituted aniline derivatives
Tirkeş, Süha; Oenal, Ahmet M. (Wiley, 2007-08-01)
New compounds consisting of aniline units linked by polyether bridges have been synthesized and their electrochemical polymerization was performed via constant potential electrolysis and cyclic voltammetry in an aqueous solution containing 3.0 moI L-1 H2SO4. Chemical polymerization was carried out using (NH4)(2)S2O8 as oxidizing agent. It was found that both methods gave the same polymer product without any cleavage of the polyether bridge between aniline rings. The polymers were characterized using the Fou...
