It is a known fact that the Kerr-Schild type solutions in general relativity satisfy both exact and linearized Einstein field equations. We show that this property remains valid also for a special class of the Kerr-Schild metrics in arbitrary dimensions in generic quadratic curvature theory. In addition to the anti-de Sitter (AdS) wave (or Siklos) metric which represents plane waves in an AdS background, we present here a new exact solution, in this class, to the quadratic gravity in D dimensions which represents a spherical wave in an AdS background. The solution is a special case of the Kundt metrics belonging to spacetimes with constant curvature invariants.

New approach to conserved charges of generic gravity in AdS spacetimes
Altas, Emel; Tekin, Bayram (American Physical Society (APS), 2019-02-12)
Starting from a divergence-free rank-4 tensor of which the trace is the cosmological Einstein tensor, we give a construction of conserved charges in Einstein's gravity and its higher derivative extensions for asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes. The current yielding the charge is explicitly gauge invariant, and the charge expression involves the linearized Riemann tensor at the boundary. Hence, to compute the mass and angular momenta in these spacetimes, one just needs to compute the linearized Riemann...
Study of one dimensional position dependent effective mass problem in some quantum mechanical systems
Bucurgat, Mahmut; Sever, Ramazan; Department of Physics (2008)
The one dimensional position dependent effective mass problem is studied by solving the Schrödinger equation for some well known potentials, such as the deformed Hulthen, the Mie, the Kratzer, the pseudoharmonic, and the Morse potentials. Nikiforov-Uvarov method is used in the calculations to get energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions exactly. By introducing a free parameter in the transformation of the wave function, the position dependent effective mass problem is reduced to the solution ...
A new integrable generalization of the Korteweg-de Vries equation
Karasu-Kalkanli, Ayse; Karasu, Atalay; Sakovich, Anton; Sakovich, Sergei; TURHAN, REFİK (AIP Publishing, 2008-07-01)
A new integrable sixth-order nonlinear wave equation is discovered by means of the Painleve analysis, which is equivalent to the Korteweg-de Vries equation with a source. A Lax representation and an auto-Backlund transformation are found for the new equation, and its traveling wave solutions and generalized symmetries are studied. Exact solution of Schrodinger equation for Pseudoharmonic potential
Sever, Ramazan; TEZCAN, CEVDET; Aktas, Metin; Yesiltas, Oezlem (2008-02-01)
Exact solution of Schrodinger equation for the pseudoharmonic potential is obtained for an arbitrary angular momentum. The energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions are calculated by Nikiforov-Uvarov method. Wavefunctions are expressed in terms of Jacobi polynomials. The energy eigenvalues are calculated numerically for some values of l and n with n <= 5 for some diatomic molecules.
A new approach to the exact solutions of the effective mass Schrodinger equation
TEZCAN, CEVDET; Sever, Ramazan; Yesiltas, Oezlem (2008-06-01)
Effective mass Schrodinger equation is solved exactly for a given potential. Nikiforov-Uvarov method is used to obtain energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions. A free parameter is used in the transformation of the wave function. The effective mass Schrodinger equation is also solved for the Morse potential transforming to the constant mass Schrodinger equation for a potential. One can also get solution of the effective mass Schrodinger equation starting from the constant mass Schrodinger equ...
