Large eddy simulation of pressure fluctuations inside stenosed blood vessels towards noninvasive diagnosis of atherosclerosis
Özden, Kamil; Sert, Cüneyt; Yazıcıoğlu, Yiğit; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2018)
Atherosclerosis is a cardiovascular disease, in which plaque builds up inside a blood vessel, narrowing it down and forming a stenosis that adversely affects the flow. Because of the stenosis, turbulent flow occurs at the post-stenotic region, which causespressure fluctuations on the vessel wall. The resulting murmurpropogates through the surrounding tissue and reaches the skin surface. These sounds emitted from the stenosed vessels are evaluated as a sign of stenosis. In this study, large eddy simulations ...
Large Strain and Small-Scale Biaxial Testing of Sheet Metals
Seymen, Y.; Güler, Baran; Efe, Mert (2016-11-01)
Small-scale and multi-axial testing of sheet metals, particularly of lightweight alloys and advanced steels are becoming important as these materials exhibit forming behavior sensitive to their unique microstructural features and strain paths. As an alternative to large-scale standard tests, in this paper we introduce a novel biaxial tensile test apparatus utilizing miniature cruciform samples. The compact and portable apparatus includes a custom-built optical microscope and high-resolution digital image co...
Large strain and small-scale biaxial testing of sheet metals
Seymen, Yadigar; Efe, Mert; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2016)
Small-scale and multi-axial testing of sheet metals, particularly of lightweight alloys and advanced high strength steels (AHSS) are becoming important as these materials exhibit forming behavior sensitive to their unique microstructural features and strain paths. As an alternative to large-scale standard tests, in this study, a novel biaxial tensile test apparatus for miniature cruciform samples is introduced. The compact and portable apparatus includes a custom-built optical microscope and high-resolution...
Large-signal S-parameter measurements of transistors in class-C operation.

Large-scale automated function prediction of protein sequences and an experimental case study validation on PTEN transcript variants
Rifaioğlu, Ahmet Süreyya; Sarac, Omer Sinan; ERSAHİN, Tulin; Saidi, Rabie; Atalay, Mehmet Volkan; Atalay, Rengül (2018-02-01)
Recent advances in computing power and machine learning empower functional annotation of protein sequences and their transcript variations. Here, we present an automated prediction system UniGOPred, for GO annotations and a database of GO term predictions for proteomes of several organisms in UniProt Knowledgebase (UniProtKB). UniGOPred provides function predictions for 514 molecular function (MF), 2909 biological process (BP), and 438 cellular component (CC) GO terms for each protein sequence. UniGOPred co...
