The effect of a reminiscence group counseling program on the life satisfaction of older adults
Siviş, Rahşan; Demir, Ayhan Gürbüz; Department of Educational Sciences (2005)
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the efficacy of a reminiscence group counseling program on the life satisfaction of older adults aged 60 years and over. In the first phase of the study, 70 older adults (39 women and 31 men, M = 77 years old) residing at a retirement home in Ankara were administered the Life Satisfaction Index A (LSIA), and a demographic information sheet. In the second phase of the study, volunteering older adults were screened for a researcher-designed “Reminiscence Grou...

Simulation of dynamic crack growth using the generalized interpolation material point (GIMP) method
Daphalapurkar, Nitin P.; Lu, Hongbing; Çöker, Demirkan; Komanduri, Ranga (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2007-01-01)
Dynamic crack growth is simulated by implementing a cohesive zone model in the generalized interpolation material point (GIMP) method. Multiple velocity fields are used in GIMP to enable handling of discrete discontinuity on either side of the interface. Multilevel refinement is adopted in the region around the crack-tip to resolve higher strain gradients. Numerical simulations of crack growth in a homogeneous elastic solid under mode-II plane strain conditions are conducted with the crack propagating along...
Investigation of the deep drawability of steel and aluminum sheets by finite element simulation
Sönmez, Çağlar; Gür, Cemil Hakan; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2005)
Sheet metal forming processes, especially deep drawing processes give diverse results by various materials. Extreme differences occur between steel sheets and aluminum sheets. The main causes of this variance are anisotropy, elastic modulus and microscopic material properties. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the deep drawing properties and also to develop suitable process parameters for aluminum and steel sheets by finite element simulation. In the simulation, the commercial dynamic-explicit code PAM-...
