Estimation of demography and seasonal habitat use patterns of anatolian mouflon (ovis gmelinii anatolica) in Konya Bozdag protection area using distance sampling
Özdirek, Lütfiye; Kence, Aykut; Department of Biology (2009)
The Anatolian mouflon (Ovis gmelinii anatolica) is an endemic ungulate subspecies and of IUCN Vulnerable status that inhabits Konya-Bozdag region located in Central Anatolia. In this thesis, the demography and habitat use of the only natural population of Anatolian mouflon at Konya-Bozdag Provice is studied. Throughout the study, distance sampling techniques, specifically line transect sampling, are used to estimate density, size and growth rate of this population. Sex, age and count data are used to estima...
Estimation of diffuse pollution loads of pesticides in tersakan sub-basin of Yeşilirmak river
Ayyıldız, Ceren; Ünlü, Kahraman; Department of Environmental Engineering (2019)
Tersakan Creek is one of the highly polluted tributaries of Yeşilırmak River because it receives pollution loads both from discharges of the industrial facilities and run-off water of the agricultural areas in the sub-basin. A monitoring program was implemented to determine the water quality status of the sub-basin in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD). The results of the water sample analyses revealed that concentrations of 22 pesticides, out of the detected 57 pesticides, exceeded the ...
Estimation of carbon dioxide flux in shallow lakes in Turkey
Kalvenas, Jennifer; Beklioğlu, Meryem; Department of Biology (2014)
The role of Turkish shallow lakes as a sink or source of carbon from 44 shallow lakes sampled once from 2006 – 2012 over six degrees of latitude is analyzed in terms of spatial resolution. Two of the lakes (Eymir and Mogan) were sampled over the spring, summer, and fall seasons from 2006 – 2010 under dry and wet periods and analyzed for temporal resolution. An equation using pH, specific conductivity, wind speed, temperature, and acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) was used to determine CO2 fluxes (Trolle et a...

Estimation of seasonal runoff using remote sensing satellite data
Sorman, AU; Saydam, C (1997-05-03)
Snow hydrology has been a relatively less investigated part of the hydrologic cycle. In the last two decades there has been a growing interest and scientific research to study the role of melting snow fbr the estimation of runoff mainly contributing to the storage in large reservoirs and to make the procedure operational on a real time basis. The paper describes a project related to satellite snow cover mapping and snowmelt runoff computations, which is currently carried out in eastern Turkey.
