Snap-through buckling analyses of composite shallow spherical shells
Akkas, N; Toroslu, R (1999-10-01)
The purpose of this work is to present some numerical results on nonlinear, snap-through buckling of shallow spherical shells made of laminated composite materials under general static loading. Isotropic shells are covered as a special case of the general problem. A special-purpose finite-difference computer program has been developed. Moreover, the general-purpose computer program ANSYS has also been used. Effects of various material properties on the nonlinear behavior of the shells are investigated. One ...
Buckling driven delamination of orthotropic functionally graded materials
Yılmaz, Suphi; Kadıoğlu, Fevzi Suat; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2006)
In today's technology severe working conditions increase demands on structural materials. A class of materials which are developed to meet these increased demands is Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). These are inhomogeneous structural materials which are able to withstand large temperature gradients and corrosive environment. Application areas of FGMs are in aerospace industry, nuclear reactors, chemical plants and turbine systems. FGMs have gradual compositional variation from metal to ceramic which gi...
Lap splice behavior and strength of cfrp rolls
Taşlıgedik, Ali Şahin; Tankut, Ali Tuğrul; Department of Civil Engineering (2008)
Behavior of lap splices formed by CFRP rolls has been studied. CFRP rolls have been prepared by using CFRP sheets of a certain width. Strengthening methods that use CFRP rolls as reinforcement may require an epoxy anchored lap splice due to the conditions at the strengthening regions. It may not always be possible to strengthen the region by using only one roll fan anchored at both ends, but using two rolls from opposite faces of the member and lap splicing them at the middle so that they act as a single ro...
Line Current Analysis for Bearing fault Detection In Induction Motors Using Hilbert Transform Phase
Oumaamar, M. E. K.; Razik, H.; Rezzoug, A.; Khezzar, A. (2011-09-10)
The present paper focuses by means of an experimental study, on the effect of a bearing fault on the stator current signatures in induction motors. The variation in the amplitude of the characteristic components is not so significant. For that and in order to depict the presence of the fault harmonic signatures, the authors used the phase analysis of Hilbert transform applied on the spectrum modulus of the line current.
