Column fractionation of partially stereoregular poly(propylene oxide)
Alyürük, Kemal; Hartani, Khaled (Elsevier BV, 1989-12)
A column packed with glass beads has been used to fractionate partially stereoregular poly(propylene oxide) (PPO). PPO was first crystallized onto the glass beads from isooctane solution by stepwise lowering the column temperature. Each layer of PPO, which was deposited at different temperature ranges, was extracted by washing the beads with several columns full of isooctane. Thus several fractions differing in both stereoregularity and molecular weight were obtained by progressively increasing the extracti...

Scale-up studies for photobiological production of hydrogen
Savaştürk, Dilan. (Middle East Technical University; 2019)
Photofermentative hydrogen production was performed with sugar sources (glucose, fructose or sucrose) utilized by Rhodobacter capsulatus hupbacteria in both smallscale (indoor) and large-scale (outdoor) reactors. In small-scale experiments, the effect of carbon-to-nitrogen ratio (20, 50 and 80) on photofermentative hydrogen production was investigated with 10, 20 and 30mM glucose and fructose feedings. The highest production rates were obtained from 10 mM glucose and 10 mM fructose as 0.45 mol.m-3 .h-1 and ...
Pulse-response study for the humidity effect on sorption of ethyl bromide on clays
Yasyerli, N; Dogu, G; Doğu, Timur; McCoy, BJ (Wiley, 1999-02-01)
The effects of relative humidify on sorption and the diffusion of ethyl bromide in kaolinite and montmorillonite pellets were investigated by the one-sided single-pellet moment technique. Montmorillonite demonstrated a higher water affinity than kaolinite, causing a sharper decrease of the ethyl bromide adsorption equilibrium constant with an increase of relative humidity. For montmorillonite, most of the active sites are covered by water even at relative humidities of 8%, and adsorption of ethyl bromide on...
