Transverse vibration of pre-stressed beams: an experimental technique for the determination of dynamic viscoelastic material properties of tissue mimicking materials
Yazıcıoğlu, Yiğit; Navarro-castillo, K.; Kutluay, U.; Roystonc, T.j. (null; 2008-12-01)
An experimental dynamic material property identification technique is presented that is based on the theoretical formulations of a vibrating pre-stressed beam. The technique determines the viscoelastic material properties of tissue mimicking materials that govern their dynamic behavior. Results are presented for a silicone based material (CF11-2188 Nusil Silicone Technology, Carpinteria, CA) that is in the form of a thick string held between fixed supports under tensile pre-stress. The specimens are excited...
Transverse-momentum and pseudorapidity distributions of charged hadrons in pp collisions at root s=0.9 and 2.36 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2010-02-01)
Measurements of inclusive charged-hadron transverse-momentum and pseudorapidity distributions are presented for proton-proton collisions at root s = 0.9 and 2.36 TeV. The data were collected with the CMS detector during the LHC commissioning in December 2009. For non-single-diffractive interactions, the average charged-hadron transverse momentum is measured to be 0.46 +/- 0.01 (stat.) +/- 0.01 (syst.) GeV/c at 0.9 TeV and 0.50 +/- 0.01 (stat.) +/- 0.01 (syst.) GeV/c at 2.36 TeV, for pseudorapidities between...
Transverse-Momentum and Pseudorapidity Distributions of Charged Hadrons in pp Collisions at root s=7 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (2010-07-01)
Charged-hadron transverse-momentum and pseudorapidity distributions in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV are measured with the inner tracking system of the CMS detector at the LHC. The charged-hadron yield is obtained by counting the number of reconstructed hits, hit pairs, and fully reconstructed charged-particle tracks. The combination of the three methods gives a charged-particle multiplicity per unit of pseudorapidity dN(ch)/d eta vertical bar(vertical bar eta vertical bar<0.5) = 5.78 +/- 0.01(...
Vertical variation and source evaluation of VOCs and inorganic pollutants in a university building
YURDAKUL, Sema; CİVAN, MİHRİBAN; DOĞAN, GÜRAY; Uzmez, Ozlem Ozden; Gaga, Eftadeo O.; Dogeroglu, Tuncay; Ayakli, Gul; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal (2018-01-01)
Concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and inorganic pollutants including sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O-3) were measured using passive samplers in both indoor and outdoor environments at 2, 5, 8, 13, 17, 24, and 29 m from the ground level at a high-rise building in the Middle East Technical University campus in Ankara, Turkey. The measured indoor concentrations of Sigma 24VOCs were highly variable, ranging from 98g m(-3) (at the ground floor) to 235.3g m(-3) (at the...
Overlapping Lattice Simulation of Concrete Gravity Dam Collapse Simulations
SOYSAL, BERAT FEYZA; Aydın, Beyazıt Bestami; Tuncay, Kağan; Arıcı, Yalın; Binici, Barış (2017-09-01)
Estimating the collapse limit state of concrete gravity dams within the framework of performance based design is challenging due to the uncertainty in modelling the response of these systems and the strong dependence of the behavior on the ground motion. The purpose of the study is to investigate the seismic expected damage levels by using the overlapping lattice modeling (OLM) approach with incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) for two representative dam monoliths. OLM employs pin connected bar elements exten...
