Enhancement of Physical and Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Resins by Graphene/Graphene Oxide Additives
Budak, Deniz; Yıldırım, Erol; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2022-1-23)
Control of interfacial interactions is essential for the preparation of polymer matrix composites with enhanced physical, mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. The performance of the graphene and graphene oxide (GO) additives can be improved by achieving strong adhesion and uniform dispersion of GO in the epoxy matrix. In this study, modeling and simulation of DGEBA (Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether)/DETA (Diethylenetriamine) based epoxy nanocomposites containing graphene and graphene oxide (GO) additi...
Enhancement of hydrogen storage properties of Ca3CH antiperovskite compound with hydrogen doping
Gencer, Ayşenur; Surucu, Gokhan (Wiley, 2020-01-01)
The doping effect of hydrogen on the Ca3CHx (x = 1, 4, 7, 9, and 10) antiperovskite compounds has been examined using density functional theory (DFT). The results of the structural optimizations show that all these compounds have negative formation energy implying the energetic stability and synthesizability. The band structures that are essential for the electronic properties have been determined along with the partial density of states (DOS) showing the metallic behavior of these compounds. In addition, t...
Enhancement of optical parametric amplification in microresonators via gain medium parameter selection and mean cavity wall reflectivity adjustment
Asirim, Ozum Emre; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (IOP Publishing, 2020-09-01)
This paper computationally investigates the effect of the polarization decay rate (gamma), and the peak resonance frequency (f(0)) on optical parametric amplification inside a low-loss micro resonator. It is found that, for lower values of the polarization decay rate and the peak resonance frequency, the magnitude of amplification can be significantly higher. However, it was also observed that beyond a certain threshold value of the polarization decay rate, the gain factor of the amplification sharply reduc...
Enhancement of plasmonic nonlinear conversion and polarization lifetime via fano resonances
Yıldız Karakul, Bilge Can; Bek, Alpan; Taşgın, Mehmet Emre; Department of Physics (2017)
Boundary conditions and dispersion at dielectric-conductor interfaces, together, results in bands of energies or wavelengths of light within which light-matter interaction strength displays peaks as a result of fulfilled resonance conditions. At these resonance energies light propagation is strongly coupled to collective oscillation of free charges at the dielectric-conductor interface which qualifies to be given a quasiparticle name, "the surface plasmon polariton" (SPP). When dealing with zero-dimensional...
Enhancement in Photovoltaic Characteristics of CdS/CdTe Heterojunction
Surucu, Gukhan; Gullu, HASAN HÜSEYİN; Bayrakli, Ozge; Parlak, Mehmet (2017-12-01)
The polycrystalline p-type CdTe thin film was deposited to form a solar cell structure with n-type CdS thin film window layer. Material characterization of the deposited thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction measurements and the preferred orientations were obtained along (111) direction at 2 theta congruent to 24 degrees and 2 theta congruent to 26.5 degrees for CdTe and CdS films, respectively. The optical behaviors were investigated according to the transmission spectrum and corresponding dire...
