DIRECTION FINDING AND LOCALIZATION FOR FAR-FIELD SOURCES WITH NEAR-FIELD MULTIPATH REFLECTIONS
Elbir, Ahmet M.; Tuncer, Temel Engin (2015-08-12)
Multipath signals are main source of error for parameter estimation in direction finding applications. In this paper, a new method is proposed for the estimation of direction-of-arrivals (DOA) of a far-field source and localization of its near-field multipath reflections in two steps. Firstly, far-field source DOA is estimated using a calibration technique. In the second step, a near-to-far field transformation is presented in order to eliminate the far-field components of the array data and obtain only nea...

Signaling Games for Log-Concave Distributions: Number of Bins and Properties of Equilibria
Kazikli, Ertan; Sarıtaş, Serkan; GEZİCİ, Sinan; Linder, Tamas; Yuksel, Serdar (2022-03-01)
We investigate the equilibrium behavior for the decentralized cheap talk problem for real random variables and quadratic cost criteria in which an encoder and a decoder have misaligned objective functions. In prior work, it has been shown that the number of bins in any equilibrium has to be countable, generalizing a classical result due to Crawford and Sobel who considered sources with density supported on [0, 1]. In this paper, we first refine this result in the context of log-concave sources. For sources ...
Delay Analysis for Wireless Communication Systems with Caching
Atak, Kunter; Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda (2019-01-01)
In this work, a two-tier heterogeneous network is studied. Both base stations and end-devices are capable of caching. A suboptimal cache placement algorithm is proposed for lower delays assuming a statistical mobility model. The results are compared with a lower bound, the effects of the number of base stations and cache capacities are investigated, and the tradeoff between network load ratio and delay is shown.
Peak-aware traffic prediction with deep learning models and a driver simulation method with probabilistic hybrid automaton
Acun, Fatih; Aydın Göl, Ebru; Kalkan, Sinan; Department of Computer Engineering (2022-8)
Accurately predicting traffic is crucial due to its impact on urban life in many aspects. Several statistical methods, machine learning, and deep learning approaches are applied to different traffic datasets. In general, traffic follows a stable behavior except for the morning and evening peaks which span a small period in time. To consider a prediction model to be accurate, it must demonstrate successful results during peak hours. In this thesis, a novel distance to mean weighting technique is presented th...
