Cs-promoted Ru-Na/SiO2 catalysts were characterized via H-1 NMR spectroscopy. Contrary to the results of studies using single crystals, we did not find any evidence of a ruthenium-mediated electronic interaction between the alkali promoter and adsorbed hydrogen. The site blocking effects of the Cs promoter diminished after exposure to hydrogen for extended periods of times. This effect was partly reversible after thermal evacuation of the hydrogen. In the presence of Cs, the surface of the support was also modified; the intensity of the diamagnetic resonance in the spectrum (predominantly Si-OH) decreased, and an additional resonance appeared in the spectra. There is evidence that hydrogen spillover and hydrogen mobility were also restricted in the Na-Cs-promoted system.

Temperature- and Voltage-Induced Ligand Rearrangement of a Dynamic Electroluminescent Metallopolymer
Asil Alptekin, Demet; Patra, Asit; de Hatten, Xavier; del Barrio, Jesus; Scherman, Oren A.; Nitschke, Jonathan R.; Friend, Richard H. (Wiley, 2014-08-04)
A dynamic-covalent metal-containing polymer was synthesized by the condensation of linear diamine and dialdehyde subcomponents around copper(I) templates in the presence of bidentate phosphine ligands. In solution, the red polymers undergo a sol-gel transition upon heating to form a yellow gel, a process that can be either reversible or irreversible depending on the solvent used. When fabricated into a light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC), the polymer emits infrared light at low voltage. As the voltage...
Coke Minimization in Dry Reforming of Methane by Ni Based Mesoporous Alumina Catalysts Synthesized Following Different Routes: Effects of W and Mg
ARBAĞ, HÜSEYİN; YAŞYERLİ, SENA; YAŞYERLİ, NAİL; Doğu, Timur; DOĞU, GÜLŞEN (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-12-01)
Ni based mesoporous alumina (MA) catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel (SGA) and hydrothermal (MA) methods, following impregnation and one-pot synthesis routes and catalytic performances of these materials were tested in dry reforming of methane. Results proved the importance of synthesis procedure of the MA supports on the activity and coke resistance of the synthesized materials, containing 16 % Ni. Among these catalysts, MA prepared by the sol-gel technique (Ni@SGA) showed the highest activity in dry ref...
Oxidative coupling of methane over NbO (p-type) and Nb2O5 (n-type) semiconductor materials
Erarslanoglu, Y; Onal, I; Doğu, Timur; Senkan, S (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1996-01-01)
Oxidative coupling of methane to higher hydrocarbons was investigated using two types of semiconductor catalysts, NbO (p-type) and Nb2O5 (n-type) at 1 atm pressure. The ratio of methane partial pressure to oxygen partial pressure was changed from 2 to 112 and the temperature was kept at 1023 K in the experiments conducted in a cofeed mode. The results indicated a strong correlation between C-2+ selectivity performance and the electronic properties of the catalyst in terms of p- vs. n-type conductivity. The ...
The C-11-radioisotopic study of methanol conversion on V-MCM-41: The influence of methyl iodide on the transformation
Sarkadi-Priboczki, E.; Gucbilmez, Y.; Solmaz, A.; Balci, S.; Szelecsenyi, F.; Kovacs, Z.; Doğu, Timur (Elsevier BV, 2009-04-30)
The methanol conversion and a feasible methanol co-reaction with methyl iodide were studied on a vanadium incorporated MCM-41 type (V-MCM-41) mesoporous catalyst. which was prepared by a direct hydrothermal synthesis method. Adsorption/desorption as well as conversion derivates of radioactive methanol were easily followed by radioactivity detectors on V-MCM-41. The transformation and coreaction products were analyzed by a gas chromatograph equipped with Radio/FID detectors. The radiodetector was applied to ...
Vanadium incorporated high surface area MCM-41 catalysts
Gucbilmez, Y; Doğu, Timur; Balci, S (Elsevier BV, 2005-02-28)
High surface area MCM-41 (1452 m(2)/g) and V-MCM-41 materials were synthesized by a direct hydrothermal synthesis method. Characteristic XRD patterns, SEM and AFM photographs indicated no significant change in the morphology of MCM-41 by incorporation of vanadium. XPS and EDS results proved that incorporation of vanadium into the MCM-41 structure was successfully achieved when vanadyl sulfate hydrate was used as the vanadium source. However, use of ammonium vanadate as the vanadium source was not equally su...
