Feature modeling and automated analysis for an embedded software product family
Fedakar Gönül, Gülseren; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S.; Department of Computer Engineering (2013)
In the context of software product line engineering, feature models are used for modeling variability and commonality in product families. This thesis presents a basic feature model for a commercial television set product family. This work consists of three stages. First, a feature model is constructed, based on the analysis of the product family requirements. The constructed model is supplemented with a feature glossary. FeatureIDE is used as the model editor. Feature attributes, not supported by FeatureID...
Functional Size of a Real-Time System
Desharnais, Jean-Marc; Abran, Alain; Dikici, Pinar Efe; Ilis, Mert Can; Karaca, Irfan Nuri;( Abstracts: This paper presents a case study on the implementation of IFPUG FPA and COSMIC software measurement methods for a small real-time system. The two methods were applied separately to measure the functional size of the same software. The main objective of this paper is to explore, through a case study, the issue of the measurement adequacy of each measurement method to capture the functional size of real-time software. For the practitioners, the real issue is that such a 'number' represent adequately the functional size. This number should take into consideration the particularities of specific real-time software and be sensitive to small variations of functionality.; 2009-11-06)

Functional mockup unit adaptation for HLA-compliant distributed simulation
Yılmaz, Faruk; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S.; Durak, Umut; Department of Computer Engineering (2014)
Conceptual design of systems require aggregate level simulations of the designed system in its operational setting. Thus, performance of the system and its interactions with the other entities in its environment can be evaluated. The complex and heterogeneous nature of these simulations often requires distributed execution. IEEE 1516 High Level Architecture (HLA) is a widely accepted standard architecture for distributed aggregate level simulations. Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) is a recent standardiza...
Machine scheduling with preventive maintenances
Batun, Sakine; Azizoğlu, Meral; Department of Industrial Engineering (2006)
In manufacturing environments, machines are usually subject to down periods due to various reasons such as preventive maintenance activities, pre-accepted jobs and pre-known material shortages. Among these reasons, preventive maintenance, which is defined as the pre-planned maintenance activities to keep the machine in its operating state, has gained much more importance in recent years. In this thesis, we consider the single machine total flow time problem where the jobs are non-resumable and the machine i...
