Water Quality Assessment of a Shallow Lake in a Specially Protected Area Lake Mogan Ankara Turkey
Kiraz, Melike; Alp, Emre (null; 2015-06-01)
Mogan and Eymir Lakes are two shallow lakes, interconnected hydrologically in the close vicinity of Ankara, Turkey. A total of 245 km2 of the total 971.4 km2 watershed is under environmental protection status as ‘‘Go¨lbası Specially Protected Area’’. Potential impacts from extensive agriculture, recreation, incomplete infrastructure and other human activities, such as residential settlements, are discussed with reference to previous and more recent pollution monitoring. Six monitoring stations enabling fol...
Effects of chronic ethanol consumption on memory and molecular changes in the hippocampus of young adult Wistar rats
Elibol, Birsen; Doğru, Ewa; Department of Biology (2007)
The aim of the present study was to examine retention of spatial reference memory after 6 (Experiment I) and 15days (Experiment II) of binge-like drinking and during alcohol withdrawal in young adult Wistar rats. Prior to alcohol treatment, rats received Morris Water Maze (MWM) training. Afterwards, rats were intragastrically administered ethanol at the dose increasing from 4.5g-to-12g/kg. Intubation control groups (n=7 and n=10, respectively) received infusions of a sucrose solution without ethanol. Subseq...
Recastıng and transmıttıng creatıve practıces: A practıce theory approach
Hajiamiri, Milad; Korkut, Fatma; Department of Industrial Design (2022-8-22)
This dissertation explores the nexus of creative practices, that is, the ways in which sayings and doings of creative practices are linked. The study investigates whether drawing on the social practice theory could lead to a new way of exploring and understanding creative practices and to the identification of the ways in which they are reinterpreted and transmitted. This study adopted inductive reasoning and a grounded theory approach and started with an exploratory study to identify cases from different f...
The Role of hydraulic loading and nutrients in the ecology of mediterranean shallow lakes
Coppens, Jan Emma Pieter; Beklioğlu, Meryem; Jeppesen, Erik; Department of Biology (2016)
In this Ph.D.-research three approaches were used to study the relationship between external nutrient loading, hydraulic loading and in-lake nutrient processes in shallow lakes under different climate conditions: a space-for-time mesocosm experiment on a climate gradient across Europe; time series analysis of long-term water and nutrient budgets of Lakes Eymir and Mogan; a combination of catchment and lake modelling of Lake Mogan under the projected climate conditions for 2020-2090. The mesocosm experiments...
The effect of individual differences on acceptance of web-based learning management system : a case study
Hancı, Arzu; Karaaslan, Hasan; Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (2007)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Bank employees’ individual and organization related individual differences on the acceptance of Learning Management System (LMS) in Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT). The study aims to find out whether there are differences in perceived ease of use of technology, perceived usefulness of technology, and attitudes toward the use of LMS in terms of Bank employees’ gender, age, seniority, title, department, and LMS role groups. Survey design was ...
