OPTICAL PHONONS IN GAS1-XSEX LAYER MIXED-CRYSTALS
Hasanlı, Nızamı; MELNIK, NN; RAGIMOV, AS (Wiley, 1983-01-01)
Measurements are made of polarized Raman scattering and infrared reflection spectra of twenty two compositions of GaS1‐xSex layer mixed crystals grown by the Bridgman method. Besides the usual one‐mode and two‐mode behaviours of phonon modes, a number of more complex dependences characterized by the appearance of additional bands in the spectra of mixed crystals are observed. Their appearance is accounted for by the uncovering of the Brillouin zone due to the disturbance of the periodicity of the crystal la...
Water adsorption on the stepped Si(110) surface
Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (Wiley, 1996-07-01)
We have investigated the possible water adsorption forms on the stepped Si(110) surface. Calculations have been performed by using the empirical tight-binding method. Two types of adsorption model of water on a single layer stepped Si(110) surface have been considered, one of them is the dissociative type (H, OH) and the other one is the molecular type (H2O). The total electronic energy and TDOS calculations lead to a dissociative type of water adsorption on the stepped Si(110) surface excluding the molecul...
Investigation of localized levels in GaS0.5Se0.5 layered crystals by means of electrical, space-charge limited current and photoconductivity measurements
Qasrawi, AF; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Wiley, 2002-11-16)
To identify the localized levels in GaS0.5Se0.5 single crystals, the dark electrical conductivity, current-voltage characteristics and photoconductivity measurements were carried out in the temperature range of 250-400 K. Temperature dependence of dark electrical conductivity and the space-charge limited current studies indicate the presence of a single discrete trapping level located at 0.31 eV below the conduction band with a density of about 1.3 x 10(15) cm(-3). The conductivity data above 320 K reveal a...
The exciton transition energies in symmetric double GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs quantum wells
Okan, SE; Aktas, S; Akbas, H; Tomak, Mehmet (Wiley, 1999-04-01)
The exciton transition energies between valence and conduction subbands of symmetric double quantum wells are studied. To study the effect of geometry coupled wells of rectangular, graded and parabolic shapes are considered. A special emphasis is given to the study of crossover between the symmetric light-hole (e1-11) and the antisymmetric heavy-hole (e2-h2) transitions.
A NEW CLASS OF EMPIRICAL MANY-BODY POTENTIAL-ENERGY FUNCTIONS FOR BULK AND CLUSTER PROPERTIES
Erkoç, Şakir (Wiley, 1992-06-01)
A new empirical many-body potential energy function (PEF) is proposed, which comprices two- and three-body atomic interactions. The two-body potential is a kind of hybrid function and the three-body potential is formed by additive and nonadditive functions. The additive part is expressed in terms of two-body interactions, and the nonadditive part is expressed as triple-dipole function. The PEF satisfies bulk cohesive energy, bulk stability condition, and bulk modulus. The PEF is parameterized for gold, silv...
