Kinetics of polyurethane formation between glycidyl azide polymer and a triisocyanate
Keskin, S; Özkar, Saim (Wiley, 2001-07-25)
Kinetics of the polyurethane formation between glycidyl azide polymer (GAP) and a polyisocyanate, Desmodur N-100, were studied in the bulk state by using quantitative FTIR spectroscopy. The reaction was followed by monitoring the change in intensity of the absorption band at 2270 cm-l for NCO stretching in the IR spectrum, and was shown to obey second-order kinetics up to 50% conversion. The activation parameters were obtained from the evaluation of kinetic data at different temperatures in the range of 50-...
KINETICS OF WINE SPOILAGE BY ACETIC-ACID BACTERIA
KOSEBALABAN, F; OZILGEN, M (Wiley, 1992-01-01)
Acid production in wines inoculated with acetic acid bacteria from vinegar was studied at 15-degrees-C, 20-degrees-C, 25-degrees-C and 30-degrees-C and simulated with kinetic models. Results indicated that major wine spoilage did not occur during the growth of the microorganisms, but during their extended presence at high concentrations during the stationary and death phases. Acetophilic species were observed to resist death, which is in agreement with the mechanism suggested by Kittelmann et al.9 for the d...

Kinetics of gypsum formation and growth during the dissolution of colemanite in sulfuric acid
Cetin, E; Eroglu, I; Özkar, Saim (2001-11-01)
One of the most important boron minerals, colemanite, is dissolved in aqueous sulfuric acid to produce boric acid whereby gypsum is formed as byproduct. Filtration of gypsum has an important role in boric acid production because gypsum affects the efficiency, purity and crystallization of boric acid. The formation and growth kinetics of gypsum during the dissolution of colemanite in aqueous sulfuric acid were studied in a batch reactor by varying the temperature (60-90 degreesC), stirring rate (150-400 rpm)...
Kinetics of amino acid production by over-producer mutant microorganisms
Özilgen, Mustafa (Elsevier BV, 1988-2)
Experimental data were modeled based on the literature for the production of nine different amino acids by ten different mutant over-producer microorganisms. Mathematical modeling helped to better understand common aspects of these fermentations, which were not stressed previously by plotting the data only. A Luedeking-Piret type of a model was found to be valid for representing all the amino acid production data. This result indicated the similarity among the amino acid production patterns of all the mutan...
