We describe the new European project E-CROPS which was ranked first in the 2012 CHIST-ERA competition. This project has begun its work in February 2013 to develop a system-wide approach to using energy harvesting and smart energy management technologies in communication and mobile devices. The project will examine energy-dependent fundamental limits of communications, together with the timely harvesting, storage and delivery of energy to the computing and communication units of these devices, to achieve an optimal balance between the quality of service, performance, and efficient usage of energy. E-CROPS will combine theoretical modelling and performance analysis with experimental demonstrations bringing together four collaborating teams from France (EURECOM), Spain (CTTC), Turkey (METU) and the UK (Imperial College London).

The aim of this study is to compare the sustainable development perspective of Turkey with selected European Union countries in terms of Energy Indicators for Sustainable Energy between 1980-2008. The study is conducted in a comparative and descriptive way by using energy indicators. The common energy policy priorities of Turkey and European Union are determined in the light of recent literature. An energy indicator set is constructed according to energy priorities, namely, energy efficiency and energy inte...
Cultural Risk Assessment in Construction Projects
Buqammaz, A,; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (2006-11-29)
Construction projects are subject to diverse risk factors which may influence project participants' performance and eventually quality of the constructed projects. One of the significant risk factors is cultural risk that stems from the characteristics of a multi-cultural project environment. Therefore, it is essential to analyze causes and consequences of cultural risk when a construction organization decides to perform projects where different cultures of project parties may cause conflicts in the working...
