Asymmetric synthesis of N-aryl substituted chiral 1,4-aminoalcohol derivatives and applications in various asymmetric transformation reactions
Odabaş, Serhat; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2007)
The asymmetric synthesis of N-aryl substituted chiral 1,4-aminoalcohols and their applications in asymmetric borane reduction and enantioselective diethylzinc addition to benzaldehyde reactions were performed starting from meso-anhydride 51 that is the cycloadduct of cyclopentadiene and maleic anhydride. The desymmetrization of meso-anhydride 51 was achieved by using quinine or quinidine with very high enantiomeric excess value (up to 98% ee) and with high chemical yield. The quinine-mediated desymmetrizati...
Nucleophilic and electrophilic cyclization reactions of n-alkyne substituted pyrrole derivatives
Yenice, Işıl; Balcı, Metin; Department of Chemistry (2016)
Pyrrolopyrazinone, triazinone and oxazinone derivatives were synthesized via practical methodologies. In the study, N-alkyne substituted pyrrole esters were synthesized and isolated as key compounds via copper catalyzed cross-coupling reaction. Then, key compounds underwent nucleophilic cyclization reaction with hydrazine monohydrate to yield pyrrolopyrazinone and/or pyrrolotriazinone derivatives according to electronic properties of group attached to alkyne unit. Additional study was the synthesis of pyrro...
Optimization of fabrication steps for n-type c-Si solar cells
Orhan, Efe; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2019)
Crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells fabricated on p-type wafers are still dominating the photovoltaic (PV) industry due to advantages in device processing and early focus on p-type cells in the development phase of the industry. Over the years, studies on n-type Czochralski (CZ) substrates have shown that they can be more desirable for the terrestrial applications due to superior material and process advantages such as higher minority carrier lifetime, easier passivation of the surface, absence of light ...

Polymerization and charaterization of n-vinylcaprolactam
Kozanoğlu, Selin; Usanmaz, Ali; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2008)
Poly(N-vinylcaprolactam), PNVCL, is a nonionic, nontoxic, water soluble, thermally sensitive and biocompatible polymer. It contains hydrophilic carboxylic and amide groups with hydrophobic carbon-carbon backbone chain so its hydrolysis does not produce small amide compounds which are often not desired for biomedical applications. Moreover PNVCL possesses lower critical solution temperature, (LCST) in the range of physiological temperature (32-34 oC). These properties make the polymer suitable for use in som...
