1,3-Dipolar siklokatılma reaksiyonları vasıtasıyla, potansiyel optik beyazlatıcı çekirdek sistemleri sentezlenmişdir. Bu amaçla , -fenil halkasında halojen substitute edilmiş çeşitli 3-fenilftalazinium-1-olatlar sentezlenmiş ve bazi olefinik ve asetilenik dipolarofillere karşı test edilmişlerdir. Bu reaksiyonlardan elde edilen siklokatılma ürünleri trisiklik bir yapı içinde amido grubuyla konjuge aromatik halka ihtiva ederler. Betainler ve dipolarofiller üzerindeki subst ituendler , öncelikle 1,3-dipolar reaktiviteyi arttırmak üzere tasarlanmışlardır. Optik parlatıcı karakteri sonradan arttırabilmek veya değişik alanlarda mesela tekstil ve deterjan endüstrilerinde kullanılabilirliği sağlamak için çeşitli substituendler takıImışdır. Bu ürünlerin UV spektrumlarının analizlerinden , asetilenik dipolarofillerden elde olunan siklokatılma ürünlerinin 3 olefinlerden elde olunanlardan daha potansiyel çekirdekler oldukları saptanmışdır.
