Ofdm papr reduction with linear coding and codeword modification
Susar, Aylin; Tanık, Yalçın; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
In this thesis, reduction of the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is studied. A new PAPR reduction method is proposed that is based on block coding the input data and modifying the codeword until the PAPR is reduced below a certain threshold. The method makes use of the error correction capability of the block code employed. The performance of the algorithm has been investigated through theoretical models and computer simulations. For performance evalua...
Fluid-structure interaction analysis in external flows using Linearized Euler solver
Ardıç, Ata Tankut; Baran, Özgür Uğraş; Ciğeroğlu, Ender; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-8)
Flutter is an aeroelastic instability that requires numerous fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analyses during the design process of an aircraft. Even with technology of today, numerical solution of FSI problems is a challenge as these of problems require a high amount of computational power. Most of the computational cost stems from the computational fluid dynamics analysis (CFD) part of the computation, and time-dependent nature of the problem. Harmonic methods, which are very cost-efficient compared to u...
Implementation of different algorithms in linear mixed models: case studies with TIMSS
Koca, Burcu; Gökalp Yavuz, Fulya; Department of Statistics (2021-9-06)
Mixed models are frequently used in longitudinal data types with time repetition over the same subject and clustered data types formed by observations gathered around certain groups. The modeling technique which models the dependency structure between repetitions and observations in the same cluster is required to use algorithms for parameter estimations. The same model can be solved with various algorithms arising from setup, inference and approach differences. In this study, several algorithms used for LM...
Linear prediction for single snapshot multiple target doppler estimation under possibly moving radar clutter
Öztan, Baha Baran; Tanık, Yalçın; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
We have devised a processor for pulsed Doppler radars for multi-target detection in same folded range under land and moving clutter. To this end, we have investigated the estimation of parameters, i.e., frequencies, amplitudes, and phases, of complex exponentials that model target echoes under radar clutter characterized by antenna scanning modulation with observation limited to single snapshot, i.e., one burst. The Maximum Likelihood method of estimation is presented together with the bounds on estimates, ...
Construction of substitution boxes depending on linear block codes
Yıldız, Senay; Yücel, Melek D; Department of Cryptography (2004)
The construction of a substitution box (S-box) with high nonlinearity and high resiliency is an important research area in cryptography. In this thesis, t-resilient nxm S-box construction methods depending on linear block codes presented in "A Construction of Resilient Functions with High Nonlinearity" by T. Johansson and E. Pasalic in 2000, and two years later in "Linear Codes in Generalized Construction of Resilient Functions with Very High Nonlinearity" by E. Pasalic and S. Maitra are compared and the fo...
