The Turkish software engineering community is young, vibrant, and growing. It presents reasons to be optimistic about the future, but in the meantime, it will undergo some obvious growing pains. The authors present an overall picture of software development in Turkey from three complementary viewpoints: market, suppliers, and education.

A comparative analysis of software industry development strategies : India, Ireland and Turkey
Emiroğlu, Ali Ulaş; Geray, Haluk; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2007)
This thesis emphasizes the importance of software industry within global perspective, in addition, aims to study the economic, social and structural dimensions of Indian, Irish and Turkish software industries. Because of coming from developing countries scale and attaining to significant software export achievements in global software industry, India and Ireland will be in center of this study. In this context, the determination of India and Ireland’s industrial and national software strategies and the resu...
Using collaboration diagrams in component oriented modelin
Tuncel, Mehmet Burhan; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2006)
Component Oriented Software Engineering (COSE) seems to be the future of software engineering. Currently, COSEML is the only modeling language that completely supports the COSE approach. Abstract decomposition of the system and their representing components are shown in a hierarchy diagram to support the COSE process model. In COSEML, only static modeling is supported through this single diagram. However, software is about behavior and static modeling is not sufficient to describe the system. The aim of thi...
ICT adoption, software investment and firm efficiency in Turkey
Fındık, Derya; Tansel, Aysıt; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2013)
This thesis examines the impact of firm resources on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) adoption by the Turkish business enterprises and the impact of software investment on firm efficiency by using firm level data. ICT adoption is measured at three levels: The first level is technology ownership. The second level is the presence of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer resource management (CRM). The third level is the use of narrowband and broadband technologies. The impact of firm ...
A proposed model for Turkish land forces command software intensive systems acquisition process
Bilir, Nevzat; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Information Systems (2002)
Turkish Land Forces Command uses information technology opportunities to satisfy its needs arising from the obligation for being a strong army. One of the main difficulties in using information technologies is the acquisition of these systems. This thesis reviews the fundamentals of software intensive systems acquisition process and then proposes a new model for Turkish Land Forces Command.Software acquisition process models are discussed and compared with each other. The current Turkish Land Forces Com...
Design Effort Estimation using Complexity metrics
Salman, Nael; Doğru, Ali Hikmet (2004-09-01)
Component-oriented software development is a new trend and is becoming very popular these days. In addition to requiring a different development approach, the new orientation also requires a different metrics approach. A set of metrics for Component Oriented Software Engineering was first introduced in previous research. These metrics set were used to measure the quality of component-oriented software designs. The impact of these metrics on design effort is investigated in this paper. A statistical model is...
