The title compound, C(16)H(20)Cl(2)O(8), contains a central bicyclo[2.2.2] octane skeleton with slightly twisted conformation. In this structure, the C-C bond lengths are in the range 1.525 (2)-1.552 (2) angstrom. Two sides of this skeleton have cis,cis acetoxy substituents and the Cl atoms have a trans arrangement. An extensive network of weak C-H center dot center dot center dot O interactions stabilizes the crystal structure.

Synthesis of bicyclo[2.2.2]octane-2,3,5,6,7,8 hexols (Bishomoinositols) as glycosidase inhibitors
Baran, Arif; Guenel, Aslihan; Balcı, Metin (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2008-06-20)
For the construction of the bicyclo[2.2.2] octane skeleton, 2,2-dimethyl-3a,7a-dihydro-1,3-benzodioxole was reacted with vinylene carbonate to give two isomeric cycloadditon products having the bicyclo[2.2.2]octane skeleton. Hydrolysis of the ketal ring and the opening of the carbonate functionality, followed by hydroxylation of the remaining double bond resulted in the formation of a symmetrical hexol. Epoxidation of the double bond in the cycloaddition products and the subsequent ring-opening reactions pr...
Shape optimization of wheeled excavator lower chassis
Özbayramoğlu, Erkal; Söylemez, Eres; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2008)
The aim of this study is to perform the shape optimization of the lower chassis of the wheeled excavator. A computer program is designed to generate parametric Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the structure by using the commercial program, MSC. Marc-Mentat. The model parameters are generated in the Microsoft Excel platform and the analysis data is collected by the Python based computer codes. The previously developed software Smart Designer [5], which performs the shape optimization of an excavator boom by ...
Impact essential work of fracture toughness of ABS/polyamide-6 blends compatibilized with olefin based copolymers
Ozkoc, Guralp; Bayram, Göknur; Bayramli, Erdal (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2008-04-01)
The impact fracture toughness of acrylonitrile-styrene-butadiene/polyamide-6 (ABS/PA6) blends compatibilized with 5% by weight carbon monoxide modified ethylene-n butyl acrylate-maleic anhydride (EnBACO-MAH) or ethylene-methyl acrylate-glycidyl methacrylate (EMA-GMA) copolymers were examined as a function of blend ratio by standard Charpy tests, Essential Work of Fracture (EWF) Methodology and fracture surface morphologies. The samples were first processed in twin-screw extruder and they were subsequently i...
Acrylic Bone Cements: Effects of the Poly(methyl methacrylate) Powder Size and Chitosan Addition on Their Properties
Endoğan Tanır, Tuğba; Kızıltay, Aysel; Beyzadeoglu, Tahsin; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2014-02-05)
The effect of the particle size of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and the incorporation of chitosan (CH) on the mechanical and thermal properties and the biocompatibility of acrylic bone cements were investigated. Three groups of bone cements were prepared with different PMMA particles. Groups 1 (BC1) and 2 (BC2) contained ground and sieved PMMA with particle sizes in the ranges 50-150 m and 1-50 m, and group 3 (BC3) contained synthesized PMMA microspheres with a size of about 1 m. The mechanical properti...
Numerical implementation and analysis of a porous plasticity model for ductile damage prediction
Erdoğan, Can; Yalçınkaya, Tuncay; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2021-1-27)
Ductile damage and fracture are known to be driven by the microvoid nucleation, growth, and coalescence. Porous micromechanical description of the ductile metals led to many phenomenological material models, which are used to predict the damage and fracture in engineering structures. In this thesis, the assessment of a rateindependent porous plasticity model is done through the representative volume element (RVE) calculations. The model is based on the formalism presented in [1] which is implemented as a us...
