Summer ichthyoplankton, food supply of fish larvae and impact of invasive ctenophores on the nutrition of fish larvae in the Black Sea during 2000 and 2001
Gordina, AD; Zagorodnyaya, JA; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan; Bat, L; Satilmis, HH (2005-06-01)
Qualitative composition and abundance of both ichdryoplankton and small forms of zooplankton were evaluated by field studies in the northern (the Crimea near Sevastopol) and Southern (Sinop region and TEEZ) Black Sea during the summers 2000 and 2001. A tendency of increasing the species richness, abundance of fish eggs and larvae as well as zooplankton (which is the food for fish larvae) was observed over a period of Mnemiopsis leidyi and Beroe ovata co-existence. The eggs and larvae of the Mediterranean mi...
Autumn migration dynamicsi body mass, fatload and stopover behaviour of wşllow warbler (phylloscopus trochilus linnaeus 1758) at Manyas Kuşcenneti National Park (Northwestern Turkey)
Keşapli Didrickson, Özgür; Bilgin, Cemal Can; Department of Biology (2007)
Turkey lies on one of major migratory routes between Palearctic and Afrotropical regions.Despite its importance for many species, few studies exist on bird migration over Turkey. In this study, autumn migration dynamics and stopover behaviour of Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus), a small insectivorous passerine, was documented and analyzed at Manyas Kuşcenneti National Park (northwestern Turkey). Birds were mistnetted, ringed, measured, weighed and fat-scored from mid August in 2002 and end of August ...
Summertime aerosol chemical composition in the Eastern Mediterranean and its sensitivity to temperature
Im, Ulas; Markakis, Kostas; Koçak, Mustafa; Gerasopoulos, Evangelos; Daskalakis, Nikos; Mihalopoulos, Nikolaos; Poupkou, Anastasia; Kındap, Tayfun; Ünal, Alper; Kanakidou, Maria (2012-04-01)
The impact of ambient temperature on the levels and chemical composition of aerosols over the Eastern Mediterranean in July 2004 is investigated using the WRF/CMAQ model system coupled with the MEGAN biogenic emissions model. CMAQ is able to capture the observed mean aerosol concentrations over the studied period. Non-sea-salt sulfate (nss-SO42-) is calculated to be the major aerosol component contributing by 63%, 16% and 40% to the fine (PM2.5), coarse (PM2.5-10) and total particulate matter mass (PM10), r...
