Variation of back-calculated breakage rate parameters in Bond-mill grinding
Hoşten, Çetin; Avsar, C (Wiley, 2004-10-01)
The variation of breakage rates with grinding environment is important in the analysis and simulation of various grinding processes. In particular, computer simulation of the labor-intensive experimental Bond grindability test requires reliable estimates of breakage rate and distribution parameters from a minimum amount of experimental work. This paper was aimed at studying the variation of breakage rate parameters in the Bond mill. Batch kinetic experiments with monosize feeds and standard locked-cycle Bon...

Variation of hardness and modulus across the thickness of Zr-Cu-Al metallic glass ribbons
Melgarejo, Z. Humberto; Jakes, J.E.; Hwang, J.; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Kramer, M.J.; Voyles, P.M.; Stone, D.S. (2013-01-01)
We investigate through-thickness hardness and modulus of Zr50Cu45Al5 metallic glass melt-spun ribbon. Because of their thinness, the ribbons are challenging to measure, so we employ a novel nanoindentation based-method to remove artifacts caused by ribbon flexing and edge effects. Hardness and modulus vary approximately linearly across the thickness but, unlike bulk ingots, the side of the ribbon that cooled most quickly had the highest hardness and modulus. This “inverse” variation may be caused by the fas...
Variation of mechanical properties of TiO2 during Li insertion
Lindstrom, Henrik; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi; Kamei, Masayuki; Kagawa, Yutaka (The Electrochemical Society, 2007-01-01)
TiO2 films were produced by low-temperature reactive magnetron sputtering and characterized by X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, electrochemistry, and mechanical-indentation techniques. The TiO2 films consisted of 20-30 nm particles. Electrochemical Li-insertion experiments revealed that the Li diffusion along grain boundaries was much faster compared to the diffusion into the TiO2 grains. The mechanical properties of the films changed drastically after electrochemica...
