In the present study as in our previous studies (Arikan and Doruk, 2008 and Arikan et al., 2012), similar specimens taken from a hot rolled cylindrical duplex stainless steel (DSS) bar with 22% Cr grade were solution annealed at 1050°C and then aged at 800∘C from 100 to 31622 min for sensitization treatment. Double loop electrochemical potentiodynamic reactivation and standard weight loss immersion acid tests were conducted. The solution annealed samples were found unsensitized. The samples aged for 100 min were less sensitized whereas samples aged for 316 min and more time were sensitized. The degree of sensitization (DOS) can be attributed to higher contribution of chromium and molybdenum depleted areas that result from intermetallic phases. However, especially the samples aged from 3162 to 31622 min have revealed chromium replenishment. Consequently, the degree of sensitization was lowered in comparison to the results obtained in previous studies.

Determination of susceptibility to intergranular corrosion of uns 31803 type duplex stainless steel by electrochemical reactivation technique
Arıkan, Mehmet Emin; Doruk, Mustafa; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2008)
In the present work the effect of isothermal ageing treatment on the microstructure and on the localized corrosion resistance of a duplex stainless steel (DSS) was investigated. Specimens taken from a hot rolled cylindrical duplex stainless bar with 22% Cr grade were solution annealed at 1050°C and then sensitization heat treatments were conducted at 650, 725 and 800°C with duration ranging from 100 to 31622 min. The microstructural changes were examined by the light optical microscopy (LOM) and scanning el...
Determination of binary pesticide mixtures by an acetylcholinesterase-choline oxidase biosensor
Kok, FN; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2004-02-15)
In this study, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and choline oxidase (ChO) were co-immobilized on poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) membranes to construct a biosensor for the detection of anti-cholinesterase compounds. pHEMA membranes were prepared with the addition of SnCl4 to achieve the desired porosity. Immobilization of the enzymes was done by surface attachment via epichlorohydrin (Epi) and Cibacron Blue F3G-A (CB) activation. Enzyme immobilized membrane was used in the detection of anti-cholineste...
Analysis of stress distribution in a maxillary central incisor subjected to various post and core applications
Yaman, SD; Alacam, T; Yaman, Yavuz (1998-02-01)
In this study, stress distribution in a maxillary central incisor that was subjected to endodontic treatment and various post and core applications was determined by using a three-dimensional finite-element method. Cast gold post and gold core and different combinations of prefabricated stainless-steel post, or a prefabricated titanium post with amalgam or composite cores were considered. In all cases, the tooth was assumed to have a porcelain crown. The primary purpose of the study was to evaluate the stre...
Determination of two and three phase relative permeabilty values by using a pore network model
Karaman, T; Demiral, BMR (Informa UK Limited, 2004-06-01)
In this study, a Pore Network (PN) tool was developed in order to obtain two and three phase relative permeability values. It has been found that the observed results agree with published data. It has also been found that as contact angle increased, irreducible water saturation decreased, and oil relative permeability increased for two phase oil-water imbibition simulations. During the three phase displacement simulation by pore network simulation it was observed that water and gas relative permeabilities a...
Determination of metabolic bottlenecks using reaction engineering principles in serine alkaline protease production by recombinant bacillus sp.
Telli, İlkin Ece; Çalık, Pınar; Department of Chemical Engineering (2004)
In this study, firstly, bioprocess characteristics for Serine Alkaline Protease (SAP) production, using recombinant Bacillus subtilis carrying pHV1431::subC, were examined. The cell concentration, substrate concentration, SAP activity and SAP synthesis rate profiles demonstrated that the system reaches to a steady state in terms of cell growth and SAP synthesis between t=15-25 h, therefore, this time interval is appropriate to employ both metabolic flux analysis and metabolic control analysis, which apply s...
