On the outburst light curves of soft X-ray transients as response of the accretion disk to mass deposition
Ertan, U; Alpar, MA (1998-08-01)
We note that the solution of accretion disk dynamics for an initial delta-function mass distribution gives a light curve that fits both the rise and the decay pattern of the outburst light curves of black-hole Soft X-ray transients (BSXTs) until the onset of the first mini outburst quite well. The Green's function solution of Lynden-Bell & Pringle (1974) is employed for two different time-independent viscosity laws to calculate the expected count rates of X-ray photons in the Ginga energy bands as a functio...
On the Moller energy associated with black holes
Salti, Mustafa; Aydogdu, Oktay (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2006-12-01)
In this paper, we consider both Einstein's theory of general relativity and the teleparallel gravity (the tetrad theory of gravitation) analogs of the energy-momentum definition of Moller in order to explicitly evaluate the energy distribution (due to matter and fields including gravity) associated with a general black hole model which includes several well-known black holes. To calculate the special cases of energy distribution, here we consider eight different types of black hole models such as anti-de Si...
ON THE TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENCE OF THE INTERGRAIN BARRIERS IN POLYCRYSTALLINE CDS THIN-FILMS
Günal, İbrahim (1990-02-01)
The conduction mechanism in vacuum-evaporated CdS thin films with various indium doping levels is examined using temperature-dependent conductivity and Hall effect measurements. It was found that the predominating conduction mechanism changes from thermionic emission to tunnelling of the carriers through the potential barriers, as the doping level increases. We note that the temperature coefficient α of the linearly temperature-dependent intergrain barrier height ϕb can be calculated in the case of low dopi...
On the wake pattern of symmetric airfoils for different incidence angles at Re=1000
Kurtuluş, Dilek Funda (SAGE Publications, 2016-06-01)
In the current study, numerical simulations are performed in order to investigate effects of incidence angle and airfoil thickness on alternating vortex pattern of symmetric airfoils at Re = 1000. This alternating vortex pattern is found to be significantly varying in shape as the incidence angle increases. The results are obtained with 1 degrees increment from 0 degrees to 41 degrees and then with 10 degrees increment from 40 degrees until 180 degrees. The instantaneous and mean vortex patterns are investi...
On the outburst light curves of black hole soft X-ray transients
Ertan, Ünal; Kızıloğlu, Ümit; Alpar, M. Ali; Department of Physics (2002)
We explore the X-ray outburst light curves of black-hole soft X-ray transients. First, the analytical solutions for pure viscous disk evolution are investigated by using the time independent kinematic viscosities in the form v <x RP. The illustrative viscosity models which give best fits to the observed X-ray data with reasonable initial conditions are also examined through the observed in ner disk properties in quiescence. It is seen that the viscosity law power law index (p ~ 1) can account for both the o...
